Fixed a gunshot wound today

Got a call today about a busted pipe in the ceiling at an apartment complex in the Hickory Hill area of Memphis. For those of you that live elsewhere the area is know here as "Hickory Hood". The line is in the ceiling of a first floor apartment, it's the main hot water line for the apartment on the second floor so maintenance personnel shut off his water heater to stop the deluge. They cut holes in the ceiling and when they found the break they called my shop. When I got there I climed up on a ladder and saw this.

First thought was "WTF happened here ?" I climbed down the ladder to go get my tools and material to make the repair and lo and behold, on the dresser was a single, fired 9mm case. Holy sheet ! Now I get it. !   I quickly made the repair and went upstairs to turn that tenant's water heater back on. While talking to him he told me he was sleeping when the pipe "burst" and he was awakened by a "loud pop" when it happened

Here are two more pics. In the first you can clearly see where the bullet creased the pipe and in the second you can see where the nose of the bullet struck.

Memphrica?

Sent from my mind using ninja telepathy.

I've been thinking about this all day, and I thought I'd give some insight into an administrative action I took last night.  A look behind the curtain if you will.

We can have conversations about race on TGO.  We regularly have good discussions on a variety of issues here, and there aren't really any topics that are verboten.  That said, when we're talking about difficult or potentially controversial issues, our position is pretty much the same as we discussed in the post regarding anti-law enforcement threads - either bring something to the discussion or don't participate.

We have almost 20,000 users on TGO at this point.  People from every area of the state and every background are represented.  Not everyone looks like you.  Not everyone has the same views as you.  I wouldn't ask anyone to change their views just to please someone else.  Far to the contrary, we encourage good debate on conversations that are worth having.  But, we do ask that everyone show some respect for the other voices at the table.

When it comes to racial issues, TGO will not tolerate hateful language.  Period.  It colors all of us as a community in a negative light.
