If it doesn't have a firing pin block, like my Heritage, then you probably shouldn't dry fire it. They're not "center" fire, ya know. The firing pin will hit the cyclinder if ya don't block the hammer and may break. I love mine. 'Bout all I've been using it for, lately, is a cottonmouth killer at the slough. Never go down there in the Spring and Fall without it. They have a wintering den in the rocks under the bridge. Had to kill two cottonmouths this Fall that wanted the same real estate as me. Damn near stepped on both of'm before they wanted to challenge me. Bird shot and shorts is what's in it, now. I back up every bird shot with the shorts, just in case, ya know. Some of them snakes don't give in easily. Need to get it out and shoot some mags through it, again. Had to bend and file the front post to get it to hit right @ 25 yds. I really like the way it feels in hand and is a fun shooter.

I sometimes use mine as a bum around the yard/woods gun at home.  When so carried, I usually have one or two WMR shotshells in it backed up by (these days) Hornady Critical Defense and an empty chamber under the hammer.  In my super-informal water jug tests, Speer Gold Dot WMR did better out of my NAA mini but the Critical Defense did better out of the longer barrel on the Heritage.  From the Heritage, the Critical Defense expanded decently and was found in the fourth gallon jug in the line.  It wouldn't be my first choice for serious, social situations and it isn't a gun I carry 'in public' but if it is what I have on me when a need arises, I'd not consider myself unarmed in the least.  I would hope that it would at least give me a chance of getting to something better.

Kid had one at the range not too long ago, just bought it at Academy, .22LR model only. Couldn't hit much of anything with it at 6 paces. 6" barrel too.

I tried it, settled down with forearms on bench, steady as possible, sure enough, thing shot like 5 inches left and 3 inches low even with POI sight picture at that 18' or less with several different ammo brands. Once he did same, he got about same results too.

No adjustable sights of course, just the way it was. I told him to take it back, barrel had to pressed in wrong or barrel or frame or something had to be out of spec.

Me and my shooting buddy, an 89 yr old WWII Marine Vet, have used pliers and files with impunity on SA revolver sights of all makes, much to the horror of many.  If I had a Heritage that shot low and left i would be a happy man cause I wouldn't need a taller front sight:)    I saw these revolvers today for sale in Clarksville for 99.99 plus sales tax, no background check fee, at one of the regional agri oriented big box stores. I've shot these aplenty and find them a good training gun for youngsters or a decent trapline gun.
