I'm split on either a high-end 1911, a suppressed ar-15, or a SCAR 17s.

If you want to, you can help me choose, or you can give your own idea.

GO!!!!

If its a 'zombie gun' the suppressed AR and a Glock.
Some high dollar top shelf 1911 might be fancy to look at but will never make a good match for surviving the Zed invasion. If you're a at Glock hater, the S&W m&p or an XD are equals. Reliability, ruggedness and large capacity are the winners for taking out walkers, not beauty pageant looks and claims of match accuracy.
Large calibers are out too. Too bulky, expensive, loud and heavy.

If I were in this situation, I'd find me a gently used G19 (or 17) and a nice used AR. Been several in the classifieds here. That should leave enough to grab a suppressor or a pile of mags and components to load plenty of ammo.

No matter what you choose, patience will yield the most satisfying results.

AR-15 SBR in 300 blk, w/suppressor so that you to not go about attracting all of the zombies, 22lr pistol or rifle w/ suppressor, and a g17 w/ suppressor. If they are more than a few hundred yards away, do you really want to be shooting at them anyways, that just risks more zombie attraction.

FAL , forget the suppressor , once you shoot the head they can't hear anyways !

You touch that FAL off inside a house and you won't be hearing squat either.

A suppressed AR is a great thing to spend $3 g's on, but if you're looking for alternate ideas.... M1A

Ever seen anybody mag dump an M14 in full auto? It will push a big ole boy around the yard. Don't know if you need a 308 for a zed, since they've already started decomposing and all :)

THANK YOU!

If all that needs doing is a bit of neural disruption, I'll gladly replace the weight of one round of 308 for two or three .223's.

Well, for the really tough ones wearing helmets :)

I watched a fellow TGO member do one. He's a big boy, but the rifle was shooting him, not the other way around. I'm an M1A fan, but the fun switch on the M14 was stoopid IMO.

I've never seen it done with the M14. I bet it is a handful, though. That would be an expensive trigger pull on full auto. I've never owned an M1A, but it's definitely on my list if they're still legal whenever I get around to it.

I'll take that even further. Almost ALL full auto is stupid. Exceptions being trained units, some subguns (with training and practice) and for plain old chits and grins fun. 99.9% of the world cannot ACCURATELY place rounds on target as fast as they can pull the trigger on a semi auto.
Spray and pray only works for Hollywood and video games. Edited by Caster

Gotta give Caster his due...love guns with a fun switch, but difficult to shoot accurately and costs an arm and a leg to keep the thing firing. And I do speak from experience.

Much more likely to need to have fun than need to kill zombies

I agree about the m14... spits out too many boolits too fast. The M1A on the other hand is a perfectly acceptable way to spend some gun money, I think. A suppressed AR is a better tool for zombie slayin', but $3G's to spend.... hmmm.

I just don't see a 3k 1911 (or any regular 1911) as a zombie weapon.  The last time there were only 8 zombies in a movie, it was either 1960 or the first 5 min of the show....

Now, a 9mm highcap 1911ish platform from say STI  or something would be another story.

Personally I would buy a S&W M&P 308 and use the rest of the money on a scope and goodies for it.  I am in the process of doing that, about to go find a scope when the christmas sales kick in.

Woody killed a bunch of zombies with two 1911's and a buttload of mags. It can be done :)

Whatever you can find ammo for.  A gun without ammo is an expensive club....

Well, I have put some thought into this. Now, my options have been the exact opposite of slimmed down.

My feasible options right now are:

suppressed m1a

a suppressor for one of my ak's and make that my primary

DPMS TAC 2 suppressed

suppressed ARAK-21 20inch heavy barrel in 5.56

ST Compressor 300blk

benelli m3 convertible

Wilson combat 870

"high-cap" 1911

lionheart LH9

or a Beretta 92G

*note: if resources permit, I will try to purchase a handgun as well as a primary firearm.

Or, like I said in the original post, you can still throw in new ideas to the pot.

Man. I really need to work on my decision-making skills...
