OMG, it's back!!!聽馃槂

Well, to add my two cents in (again), I finally broke down and bought the Tisas 1911a1 U.S. Army and I couldn't be happier with my purchase! It's not an exact replica of the pistol I carried in Desert Storm, but it's close enough for government work and nostalgia for me! There are some minor differences like the hammer and the ejection port not being cut exactly the same way.

Not going to say it a tack driver, because like my old service pistol (which was rebuilt prior to leaving Ft. Bragg for Saudi Arabia), it's not.聽 The service grade 1911s were known for minute of man and that what this is. Fit and function are the same. I'm sure I could spend a lot of money and add a bunch of parts and have some machining done and make it into a much more accurate pistol, but that wasn't what I wanted for.聽 And if it had been, I'd have just bought a more expensive and tricked out version.

I still think that we should look at taking TISAS out of the title.聽 While Tanker's 1911, might have been a stinker, I'm really not sure that is apropos to the brand or to their 1911s anymore.聽 I can think of another brand 1911 that is still around, that costs twice as much as the TISAS, that was a much worse version of the 1911 and it was and still is made here in the good ole USA.聽 It now has a much better reputation, though you'd have a hard time getting me to ever fork over any money to buy one, and that's the Auto Ordnance.聽 But much like Tanker's experience, that's mine from 30 years ago and everyone else's experience with the brand might be different, especially now.

I just realized that this thread has been on this forum about a year longer than I have.聽馃樀聽I also remember seeing it many times in the past.聽馃檮

I remember when聽TISAS first came out as well. They weren't very well thought of at the time. However, when they brought out their Regent Hi-Power clone, everything changed. It got great reviews and their 1911s suddenly went into the acceptable to good range. I've never owned or shot a聽TISAS, but I do know that their reputation has gone up considerably since then.聽

Oddly enough,聽TISAS no longer sells their version of the Hi-Power.聽馃檮

Which is a cryin' shame!聽 I also have a Tisas copy of the Beretta 84 and love it.聽 Good shooting .380!聽 Just wish I could find some nice looking wooden grips for it.聽 The bottom grip screw is just a quarter inch different than the latest model of the Beretta 84, which I believe is the F.聽

Weird, huh? 聽They stopped, then Springfield started making a somewhat affordable, nearly perfect version IMO.

BTW, where are the SA-35鈥檚?!?! 聽Did SA stop making them or is demand still that high?

Last I heard demand was still very high. Springfield is giving Stocking Dealers first priority too. Just gotta keep your eyes open and jump when the chance hits. That's how I got mine.聽

Posting just so I don't miss out on internet history. RIP Tanker - you may he dead (or not) but your wackiness lives on. Banned but not forgotten. Better to burn out than fade away...

I feel compelled to get a SS Tisas 1911 just to 'live the moment' & experience the genius / disaster of the gun (as the chips may fall) for myself. This thread may have sold more Tisas than the original Guns & Ammo article. Now THAT'S saavy marketing. Well done Tanker, well done.

https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/115201/sds+1911a1+.45+acp+5+7rd+black

Btw SDS/Tisas has discontinued this model

Buds price is $376 plus sales tax with a credit card

Kygunco charged $319 with no sales tax using a credit card

How is Buds less than Kygunco?

I can guarantee that when I get through with my last and sole remaining 1911 it will feel a hundred years old 馃ゲ

Off to work on that. Less talk, more banging!

I just picked up one of their SSR models (stainless, Novack sights, ambi safety, light rail, etc)聽 and a Ultimate Match model with hand lapped barrel, adjustable sights, ambi safety, mag well, etc.. Both are a heck of a lot of gun for the price. Here are some photos of the Ultimate model.
