Sig 1911 22lr

Recommended Posts

Yesterday after shooting at the range, when I got home I cleaned the guns we shot. 2-SIG 1911 22lr, ria 1911 9mm, and Springfield 1911 45acp. When I was breaking down one of the SIG 1911 22lr I had a hard time getting the barrel out. It seemed like the dust cover on the slide shrank. I did manage to pull it through. After cleaning I tried to reassemble and it was hard to put the barrel back in. I turned the slide over and hit the dust cover with a hammer to reshape it. After that it went in like normal. I have had the CWA kit installed on this gun and the other from the beginning.

My question is, has anyone ever had this problem and could it be caused by the slide being made of alloy?

This gun has not been dropped or banged or anything like that. It is cleaned after every trip to the range, put back in the range bag for the next week and only has about 3000 rounds through it.
