A little fine filing on the bolt does wonders for a nagant. That is essentially my current plan. I have an M44 I am currently cutting down and accurizing. We will see how it turns out soon.

Several lever action rifles that might fit the bill for the inexpensive SHTF rifle are in the TGO firearms classifieds today. A few 30-30 and one sweet .44. I know Kyle may be going another direction with his SHTF rifle but some of the others following this thread may be interested.

You can put together a PSA AR15 with free floated, railed tube and Andersen lower for $550.
