It's curious that serpents are so protected.

God's creatures, man, they all got a purpose in the natural order. Not so sure about us, though, think maybe we wuz tweaked by evil aliens along the line to destroy everything else!

Someone may be able to find the article, Im going from memory but although not exactly correct, this is generally correct. Last year or early this year in one of these Snake handling Churches the 15 year old son of one of the pastors was snake bit, they figured God would save him and let him sit, he died.

Then a few months later one of the Pastors of one of these Churches also got bit, but instead of going to the Hospital, he also died.

The government is so all about protecting alternate lifestyles, why do they hate the snake handlers so much?

If the church members marry the snakes would it be OK then?

Ever been divorced?

Nope, don't believe in it/can't afford it.  Had the same Boss for 41 years, she is just now at the point of saying "Whatever" and meaning it, no desire to break in a new one...

A lot of the snake handling churches are quite frankly a farse. I know of quite a few that have been busted who were cooling the snakes down to make them docile or were drugging them with sedatives.

Rarely are they handling fully awake snakes.

That said there are laws against collecting, possessing, and/or killing any non game wildlife in TN.

If they privately purchased the snakes and had the permit to keep 'dangerous' animals (very hard to get unless you are a researcher like me or a zoo) then they would be legal.

When there's a path to complying with the law and still being able to worship as they wish, then they can't really claim freedom of religion.
