little Chinese guy
comes in, stands next to me and starts drinking a beer.

I asked  him, "Do you know any of those martial arts things, like
Kung-Fu, Karate or Ju-Jitsu?"
He says "No, why the fruck you ask me dat?  Is it coz I Chinee?"

"No", I said, "It's because you're drinking my beer, you little butthead."

My nieces husband is Chinese and he thought that was funny.  Not ROTFL funny but he said that he didn't feel that was racist, he thought it was stereotype humor.  He said if it were derogatory to "his" people it would be hurtful.

My wife's father was Polish and some of the best Polish jokes.  He said when everyone can't laugh at themselves they might as well not laugh at all..

Being half-Japanese, I am often confused about Asian jokes.... should I be offended or LMAO...???  The red-neck part of me laughs. :pleased:

After many years my mother finally understood the Cataract/Lincoln joke.

She loved listening to Justin Wilson from Cookin' Cajun.  "I speak more better Ingorishi than him!"

There is a huge difference between real racism and ethnic stereotyping. Many (but not all) stereotypes have at least some historical factual basis. Others are rather ludicrous, but sometimes still humorous depending on the context.

Unfortunately, political correctness (group-think, controlled speech, etc) has been gradually introduced as "the norm" for many people. The result is the total loss of a sense of humor in general, and a complete blurring of what constitutes true harmful racism.

Unless it is directed at male Caucasians... especially those who believe in RKBA and limited government.

The PC movement has bastardized the term "racist" to the point that it has virtually no substance-- even in the event that legitimate racism is evident (i.e. willful and purposeful inclusion, exclusion, promotion or punishment based primarily on a person's race or ethnicity).

I have a close friend and longtime band-mate who's father was Japanese. He was born here, is a US citizen and speaks perfect English. He not only makes stereotypical Asian linguistic jokes, but also sometimes corrects my "Engrish".  a great guy who has a good sense of humor about everything.

I've always held the belief that if I couldn't laugh at my own stereotypes (white, can't dance, have no musical taste, ignorant redneck, doesn't wear shoes, etc) then I had no room to find humor in other racial stereotypes... fact is, I find the entire human race incredibly funny AND sad-- and that goes for all creeds, races, and ethnicities.

I guess I've never experienced the liberal guilty pleasure of self-loathing and self-pity, so I don't really feel sorry for anyone else, nor do I feel guilty about anything that any of my dead ancestors may have done/not done. If you can't have an occasional laugh every once in a while, life becomes what the misery-peddlers are pushing-- pretty miserable.

I am just partially racist. For example, I like Obama's black half and I hate his white half. And I am white. LOL
