This is my new and improved bedroll. It has 3 wool blankets, 2 indian blankets, a sleeping pad, and it's all rolled up in a linseed oil treated canvas.I got the straps at academy to hold it all together. Iy weighs in at a stout 22lbs, but I guarantee I won't be cold!Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

Any reason you went this route as opposed to say a military 3 piece sleep system.  At the end of the day all that really matters is that this works for you, and it certainly has a nostalgia factor, but man 22 pounds is a hefty piece of kit.

cool factor?
I'm really into historical type stuff and this really suits my personality. Lots of people have 3 pc systems but not a lot of people have bedrolls. And yes 22 lbs is a lot but I absolutely love it.

Makes perfect sense, I think you definitely nailed the cool factor.  Ive slept under many o green wool blankets there warm to say the least.   You may alrady know but if it gets stiff and itchy on you soak it overnight in cold water mixed with hair conditioner, it'll soften up again and the  itchynesswill be gone.

Looking good! Welcome to the wonderful world of bedroll camping!

Coldest night I ever camped (-16 degrees plus a 10 mph breeze, on the high plains of Western Kansas - we had to sleep with our canteens to keep them from freezing solid) I stayed warm with the help of a scout pit, 3 wool blankets and a canvas groundcloth.  Worst part was next morning when we (my best friend and I - we were on a primitive trek) realized that we hadn't made as many miles as we thought we had and still had a four mile hike to true shelter. Thank God for wool!
