6 People signed up for ACA on Day 1

Hard to sign up when the site is down. Most want 99.99xx% uptime, ACA website has about 99.9999% downtime from what I can see.

I did get an account created finally but still can't get through anything to see my actual prices, not going to take the insurance was just curious. The estimates that were finally posted (link on the main site page) are higher than what I am eligible for through my employer (which almost doubled on me for the same coverage).

I've played with it since day one. Even when it's been up, it's been down.

Two nights ago I was finally able to actually make an account that would actually let me log in. But trying to go through the drill (was gonna pretend I was 64 instead of 65), just an endless loop back to login screen.

You CAN see the plans now, with no account at all. With the nag on every screen that one you almost certainly get your free Obama Bucks Subsidy, the actual price will be lower than what you see. Of course, last time I did that, you couldn't see any actual details of the plans at the different levels, so that was also mostly much ado about nothing, too.

Yeah, you gotta buy it before you can actually see what 's in it.

Wait...haven't I heard something like that before??

I am debating wether to even look. I know I can get no subsidy, so really I think I am going to go private just so I am not one helping it.

they don't release the numbers because the numbers are low.  at this time only fools will get on the program.

There's lots of fools in this country as evidenced by last two presidential elections.

I did not vote for the big O but a lot of people did.  We gotta except that the law of the land is what voter's decide.  I guess they are all fools,  unless of course your guy wins and he decides what is to be done..

ACA is bad news.  But the majority of people voted for the guy running the show and next time there is an election the majority of people will once again decide.  Better get a plan to get health insurance,

it is not like "our" candidate would have been supportive of an ACA like program. ;)

Everyone knows a bad Republican is better than any Democrat.

I dunno,  I am still waiting for the sky to fall.  According to some it was going to happen right after the Big O won the first time.  When is it going to happen?  I got bewlitts to use.

+1. Newsflash!!! The chicken littles changed skyfall to around 2016, sometime near election time when the POTUS declares martial, marshal, or marital law.

I'm still trying to figure out what a "unique" visit is.

A successful one. :D

Delaying the employer mandate until after next year's elections was a smart move. Estimates are that around 93 million people are going to lose their current plans. The individual market is taking a huge hit already - hundreds of thousands have gotten cancellation notices.
This is by design. Obamacare needs at least 7 million signups by March. Turns out that, like your plan or not, you aren't going to be able to keep it.

Single payer is coming. Most have no idea how bad that is going to be.

I'm still trying to figure out what a "unique" visit is.

A new computer or IP address (depends on if they're using IP's or cookies) that is accessing the site for the first time since the clock begins.  Normally they will reset them monthly so in October if you go there, then in November again, it will count as 1 unique visit for each month.

My guess is that they are going to misrepresent these metrics to try and make it sound like everyone in the country is visiting the website, so I expect them to add the unique visits per each page together or use some fuzzy math in the reports.

Does it matter how many visit the website if they can't sign up?  That math will be more than fuzzy, it will be downright out of focus.

And speaking of focus, that's what Obamacare is going to do to 95% of us.

If / when ACA fails, single payer will be ready to drop into place. And you're right. It will not be pretty.

Well, they couldn't get a VAT, so single payer will be the excuse.  Obamacare is already effectively the largest tax increase ever, and single payer will cost even more.  But wait, there's more...

  - vastly extended waiting periods for even simple procedures

  - you won't be able to pay out of pocket to get a better or faster procedure or prescription drug

  - The government gets to decide whether or not your 'lifestyle choices' warrant you receiving care at all

Not to mention the reduced quality of care due to the many healthcare professionals who aren't going to be able to afford working at government rates - think medicare for everyone.  Now think about how many providers won't accept medicare.  What happens when they have no choice?  In magic socialist world, they'll just have to take the hit.  In the real world, aspiring medical students will do a cost/benefit analysis and decide they'd be better off doing something else.  Personally, I think we probably have enough lawyers and business majors already.

Mark, the thing that pisses me off about this is that I'm not psychic but know what the next step is on this mess.

They are already hammering amnesty for the tens of millions of illegal aliens so they can get them signed up.  Almost 100% of them are working in low income jobs and they will all pretty much qualify for subsidies and essentially free for them healthcare.

THEN these cockmunchers are going to come back and say "Look, we just got 11,000,000 people signed up under the ACA!  This is the best thing ever! We told you America wanted it"

Beyond the obvious, what is going to affect all of us is 17 million NEW patients and the exact same amount of Doctors as last year in the system.  Good lucking getting a quick appointment to see your Doctor.  He or she is going to be booked up 6 month or longer.  I figure we're all going to be going to health clinics and seeing Nurse Practitioners and PA's.  Then if it's something really serious, you will be given an appointment to see a real Doctor, sometime in the next 6 months to a year.

They need those illegals on the plantation to counteract the liberals that just got mugged by O'care.

Checking comments around various sites, the libs are really pulling excuses out of thin air.  They're blaming the costs and the cancellations on the republicans, the Koch brothers, the tea party...

I don't see how, as not a single republican in the house had any input when it was passed.

You're being optimistic.  I've heard (my SIL is a nurse) that more than a few Docs who are able to quit are retiring early, refusing new patients, or dropping out of HMO's.  Think 17 million new patients, most of whom will have no economic reason NOT to go to the emergency room with a hangnail, and 10% fewer doctors.  I imagine if we look at romneycare we can refine those numbers, but I know that emergency room visits exploded there.

Well, that was easy - a 2 year old report from the Massachusets  Medical society -- here are some highlights

(t)he state law has resulted in “longer patient wait times [and] continued difficult access to primary care physicians.” The average wait time in Massachusetts to see an internal medicine physician is now 48 days — double the national average.

Over half of primary care practices are no longer accepting new patients. Fewer physicians are accepting the state-run Commonwealth Care and Commonwealth Choice insurance plans. So although they have increased “coverage,” many patients cannot find doctors to provide them with actual medical care.

Dr. Lorraine Schratz, a Massachusetts pediatric cardiologist, noted that half of physicians trained in the state are leaving due to the poor practice environment and poor reimbursements.

“My Medicaid card is useless for me right now…. It’s a useless piece of plastic. I can’t find an orthopedic surgeon or a pain management doctor who will accept Medicaid.”

We're all about to become familiar with a new joke...

What do you call the guy that almost washed out of med school?   "Doctor"

In bold above Mike, I don't really agree! If it's not Constitutional law, it's not a law at all. We're a Constitutional Republic so far and law by democracy (the will of the people at a given time, mob rule) or executive order not granted to the President  by the Constitution , is not our law of the land.

However, my opinion won't stop from me getting fined or imprisoned  for not participating in any mandatory government Ponzi scheme LAW.
