Ammo - good score this am

Recommended Posts

Last few trips to the local Walmart they finally had all the popular calibers in stock, less .22 of course. Got my limit of 9mm and .45 auto while grocery shopping today. Next time out I had better get stocked up on some .223 / 5.56 NATO before another possible run on ammo.

The nuts just keep coming out of the wood work and it wouldn't surprise me more anti-gun legislation and executive orders coming down the pipe to trigger another round of gouging and hoarding.

I've been seeing some, but not much,40/45 and a few Tula 9mm lately. Lots of 12/20 for shotty, but still not finding 22.

Really don't NEED the 22, I have maybe 1500 rounds; but sure would like to get a couple bricks of CCI put back.

I was the same way, I have around 3k of Eley but just couldn't pass up the CCI for some reason.

Hello hipower!

Yea me too! I'm down to about four hundred rounds. Haven't scoured the Internet for them yet, hoping they will start showing up like the other ammo / guns locally. Hope I'm not making another ammo mistake?

Dennis, my take is if you are buying for yourself; you are not making a mistake.

I'm trying to add to my stash. I'd prefer to buy case lots, but with online pricing still high from most vendors; if I find something I shoot at a reasonable price, I'll buy it. Not at the point of taking everything on the shelves, but whatever the purchase limit is. And that's usually 3 boxes total when I find anything. Which isn't too often.

About the only rounds I've found at my local Wally store seem to be WWB and a few Federal 45 lately. In the last month, I've managed to buy about 500 rounds of 45, leaving the 40 for someone else. Maybe I should start buying it as well and try to trade on it.

I know I'm not in the mainstream on buying ammo, cause I've never had any ELY. CCI has been pretty much my brand of choice. But then, I've not been able to find the Ely either, or I'd sure give it a try.

I don't know that 40 will ever be that hard to come by, since it was on shelves everyday following Sandy Hook I think it can survive about anything.

That seems to be the last caliber, pistol caliber anyway, that's on the shelves most every store. Although not a favorite of mine, I do still have a couple of 40 pistols. I just don't shoot them frequently. But I do have what I consider an adequate supply for them on hand.

Maybe I need to buy some more of the 40 as a safeguard; having some for trade later. Or maybe just in case I can't get anything else.

Walmart has had CCI 22 last couple days here locally but it goes fast like a hour after they put it out fast. But they are getting some. local store puts it out at random times to keep LGS and pawn shop from sending a bunch of folks down to by it up at the same time every day. Good sign two days in a row they have had some.

Maybe there is hope yet.  How much was the brick of CCI SV?  I'll be a happy man when I can get a case of 5K of those at something near pre Sandy Hook/Newtown prices.

I paid $46 for the brick, they also had a crap load of the Federal 325 ct boxes for $26 I think.  I was thinking I'm gonna go back and pick up some more just so I can shoot more and stop worrying about dipping into the reserve.  I'll be back there on Friday and I'll stop in and check the prices and quantities and post pics.

I picked up some subsonic 22 at Walmart yesterday. It was waiting on the shelf for me to buy it all. I bought every box they had and smiled on the way out.

Those just never work for me, used to run good enough in the Rugers I had but my VQ's just don't like them at all.  CCI / Gemtech is great and most Aguilla in the VQ suppressed - might be time to pick up a threaded barrel for the SR22 I guess.

Oh, make no mistake the Remington Subsonic are miserable. You will get some that are miserably low powered followed by one that will have a supersonic crack. The only reason I bought them is I NEED night time ammo. I ran the last little bit I had a few weeks ago.

Good luck with the threaded SR22 barrel. The only people that are selling them are Twin Tech Tactical. Ruger will never sell them and unless your gun came with one they will not replace them. BTW, a threaded SR 22 is a pretty quiet platform. Seems quieter than the threaded Ruger MK's I have or my theaded Cricket Hunter pistol.

Hmff... $190 just for the TB, adapter, and shipping from Twin Tech.  I would probably be better off selling this one and buying a new one.

Yeah, it is insane and in my travels with Ruger regarding threaded barrels they say that the threaded versions are built a bit beefier. That is why they will not install, or sell, threaded barrels for the non threaded version.
