if its for the 3 gun game 1 x 4 scope. at 1 power the field of view is much better than a fixed 4x. it is something you would have to get use too. and if the acog has a delta they can be hard to use on a 12" flash target a distance.

If acog is what you know and trust yourself with, then I say stick with it. For me, I would take take the 1-4x scope, but I like the flexibility of having a near red dot optic that can be used with magnification for some distance. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD Edited by jcluff

on average for our area, what would be roughly the most distance out on a 3 gun? another idea i had was using the cog with an add on small red dot at 45 degrees or even iron at 45 like the duecke system,I found duecke knock offs for 38 bucks online and have used them with success......at 200 yds....at a 45 deg angle.....

I have 2 AR 15s and on MP 15-22. I liked the 45 degree offset sites I got off of amazon for under $25 that I bought and put one one of my ar15s that got a second pair for my MP 15-22. I definitely like them. I can see a lot of advantage using an ACOG with the offset iron sites.

that would put u into open (red dot). but u can use irons at 45 in any class. most clubs a 100 or less

I have not seen one but the price is okay but I am sure you get what u pay for

A buddy of mine has the 1-4x primary arms scope. Glass is decent and it seems to have true 1x. However, it is a 2nd focal plane reticle and, to me, that seems to somewhat defeat the purpose of the 1x zoom. But then again, I like the idea of using as a red dot at 1x and then zooming in with either mils or BDC marks for distance shooting.

Plan on shooting out to 300 yds.

Dont plan on what the small bay clubs set for 3 gun.

Plan for the matches you'll shoot where you have multiple targets from 200-300.

most popular glass is the Vortex HD 1-6 @ about $1300.

The Vortex is popular. It is a nice scope. Much of its popularity comes from being $1000 less than the Swaro Z6i.

Before true 1 power variable scopes became available, the ACOG was very popular. It has quickly become displaced by the 1 power variables. Much like the 1-4 scopes being over taken by the 1-6 scopes. In my experience, I have seen more people up-grade to a quality scope over any other piece of gear. They usually start with an entry level 1-4 power, or even less versatile scope, and usually end up with a 1-6 variable. I haven even seen someone start with the Vortex 1-6 but only sell it to get a Swaro Z6i. Are such high end scopes necessary, not at all. Do they help, most certainly.

ya wont scare me or spiffy off from the rock.spiffy told me he'd set the jeep on fire! we keep in mind theres guys over 65 beating guys under the age of 25, we aint skeered LOL,and were not over 65:   LOL anyway, i can see spending on good glass for long distance And Ive seen the difference between good glass and cheap stuff.... Did that w imaging gear for a long time, but my thought is working w something that works thats fairly priced in my budget. You wont see me getting a carlos hathcock unobtanium 50 x 9000 digital auto tune mrad for popping woodchucks a mile away anytime soon. got some things to think about though....
