SUMMERVILLE, SC (AP) -
South Carolina officials say a New York-based company that makes firearms, ammunition and tactical equipment is relocating its headquarters in Dorchester County.

The state Department of Commerce said Monday the $2.7 million investment by American Tactical Imports would mean more than 100 new jobs for the Summerville area.

ATI is now based in Rochester, N.Y. Company officials say ATI is also setting up a distribution center and moving its customer service operations and sales office to the Summerville site.

The new facility will also be home to ATI's limited firearm assembly. Company officials say the relocation begins next month.

Good news to hear.

I've seen their shotguns at the gun shows, are they any good?

no clue but the ati fatboy is absolutely awesome, it shot pretty good out of the box and after Calhoun redid mine, I'd put that up against any compact 45 on the market no matter how expensive they are.

Alan Clemens is busting his butt. That makes at least two, ATI and PTR that I know of and they are both doubling in size and those are $15-$18 per hour jobs, nothing to sneeze at.

Berretta is going to keep Acokeek open but there is rumor, since they are no longer going to expand in Maryland, that Clemens is offering them some great opportunities. Wouldnt be surprised to see a factory open in South Carolina.  Sturm, Ruger is opening plant in North Carolina.

Good all the way around.

The list of anti gun states losing firearms industry and related jobs and businesses is getting longer.

I have heard that few companies up in the East coast is also looking at Tennessee. I think Ithaca is one of them that have looked at Tennessee. and spoke with Governor about a possible move to here.

I also hear that  company in Colorado is looking at moving to Montana of Idaho which are both very Pro-gun states also.

You mean magpul? I was wondering when/where they would end up moving...

Magpul moved operations a couple of months ago. To Wyoming as I recall. So they werent too far from home.

I suppose magpul felt most of their customers would do exactly what I did and assume that with all of their announcements about not building their products where the people who live their couldn't buy them was real. They took a blast several months ago about making announcements then not following through and replied they were in the process of moving but it takes a while. Even announced that the injection molding company they contract with was moving. Did they do anything? My question would be did they stay to defend their turf? Did they help or are they helping in the recall elections? If so that would be different. They were making a pretty big deal with the flights. Saw lots of support on their Facebook promotional page. That's what I get for assuming. Now I am going to have to see if more magpul products are out for me. Not going to help support Colorado anti gun politics with magpul paying all those taxes. I would call it a sound business decision to stay and keep prices down except it looks deceptive and they are selling a lot of magazines. The left up there, when magpul CEO threatened to move said they weren't going anywhere. Looks like they were right.

That's kind of my thoughts as well Tanker. Had they never come out and been so vocal about leaving I never would have expected it, had they said they were staying right were they are to keep up the good fight, I would have applauded the decision. Saying you'll leave and then staying is not too cool though. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt though, it must be a logistical nightmare to run that company under the best circumstances, throwing a move into the mix would certainly take some time to set up and it has only been less than a year yet.

They might have decided to stay because the people of Colorado did what was needed to get them to stay.  Get rid of two anti gun grabbing Democrats trying to keep from losing another company and un-employing more people in Colorado. Could be a show of appreciation for the actions of the people of Colorado..........jmho
