I went to the LGS today and they had a new Red Label in and said Ruger was making them again... I have a friend who keeps a bunch of them at the skeet range on his plantation, but what is the general consensus on these? I have heard mixed reviews...

I had one for a long time.  I can't speak to the new one's, but in my opinion, the old one's were solid guns for a good price point in an over/under.  They had good build quality, but were a little heavy compared to some others.  I wouldn't be afraid to buy a new one if that was what I wanted.

Most of over/unders are put to the test if you are serious about clays and skeet.  My Browning has seen over 10K rounds, and is as tight today as it was when I first bought it 8 years ago.  As a comparison, my brother bought a Ruger Red Label within a few months of my purchase, and @ 1,000 rounds or 10 rounds of Clays, his developed a loose rattling receiver.  What does that mean, to some, nothing, to others it might mean something.  My brother's accuracy didn't change though, he is still a terrible shot.  I don't think its the gun though!

P.S.  My brother doesn't read these boards!
