TN man caught with loaded rifles at JFK

Recommended Posts

I think they might want to do a  Psychological test on this guy for sure after seeing the type of guns he had. I would be willing to bet he is not wound to tight at all. Probably zero brain cells working most of the time................jmho

Seems as though he would have to be somewhat deficient to think they weren't going to catch this. And the "defaced" portion is not gonna help him any.

The cases contained two 9-millimeter pistols, two magazines capable of holding 15 rounds of 9-millimeter ammunition, and two .22-caliber rifles, the statement said.

One of the rifles had a round in the chamber, and both were missing serial numbers, the statement added.

Joseph Pentangelo, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police, which conducted the investigation, said the two rifles had been painted, one purple and one silver. He also said that Mr. Draughon had a shotgun with him, though that weapon was not mentioned in the district attorney’s statement.

Mr. Draughon’s father, Kevin, said his son joined the Army when he was 19 and was an avid hunter in Tennessee. He said by telephone that his son had been visiting him and other relatives in the New York area.

“We haven’t seen him since he had joined Army,” he said.

Leave it to some dummy to try this. Most likely Military.

More specifically the dummy part of your comment. What was that supposed to mean?

That is the elaboration that 173rd is probably looking for and I definitely am as well.

I think the "most likely" part was simply because he is from the area near Ft Campbell and a transplant. I don't think that was intended to mean the way it sounds. Not that he is a dummy because he's in the military; more that he is a dummy who happens to be in the military.

Ok that makes sense. I would advise Dave to read through his posts before he hits the button.

Let's try this; The guy is a DUMMY for what he did, and because he's from New York, 23 years of age, and living in this area, he is probably Military (which he is). I'm a proud veteran of the Army and in particular, the 101st ABN Div., and as every Veteran knows, every unit has at least one Dummy!

I do re-read my post prior to "hitting the button". I usually type what I mean, and mean what I type, just so you know. Nothing against any veteran, active soldier or wanna be's.  ;)

Something ain't kosher on this. Remember we're talking about the media reporting a weapons issue. Which is as or can be as stupid as nancy grace not understanding medical condition has nothing to do with having a security clearance... Training gear gets painted, like this guys stuff If the photos are actually of his trash. Also what if they're incomplete and incapable of firing, then what?? You know NY will come up w a way to prosecute.Something's missing,,, besides brain matter. And fwiw if you have a travel layover in NY for 24 hrs or more and your not Leo, they can and will prosecute for possession of a weapon and transporting a weapon if you have one or are shaken down for one..Bloomberg is living proof that stupidity is infectious,,, along with the media..

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 of course it ate my spelling.

I'm glad to hear that. I guess it just came out different than you meant for it to. As far as I'm concerned, you can bash wanna be's all you want

I’m curious to hear the whole story when it comes out. These are obviously rifle cases and he declared firearms when he checked in. So he wasn’t trying to hide anything.

If one of those firearms was loaded and he had hi-cap mags in NY; it’s going to cost him. I wonder if the defacing of serial numbers is because the guns were painted or if they were truly defaced.

News 4 had the story on the 10 o’clock news and they tried to make it sound like he tried to carry the guns onto the plane.

Those are good questions Dave. I read one story where the serial numbers were obscured by paint, and one where they were scratched. Who knows? Typical reporting I guess. The Port Authority did claim one had a round in the chamber.

He checked them in through "baggage check" as you said. Is inspecting the contents a normal thing to do, or do those cases go through xray?
