Scope ring touching turret...

Recommended Posts

As pointed out in another post I just bought a new scope for my wife's Remington 700. The problem is in order to get the correct eye relief I have to run the scope all the way back with the turret touching the rear scope ring. Is this okay? I had read elsewhere online that I can purchase extension scope rings that sit back a little further than the base but I have no experience with those. I just don't want to mess anything up. The most reasonable answer I have come up with so far is that as long as I don't over tighten the screws I'll be fine.

Will it prevent adjusting the knob?  If not it will be fine.  Will probably get a small mar mark over the shooting life, but you gotta see it to hit it.

Make sure that running the scope right on the turret connection doesn't allow the scope to loosen and twist in the ring(s).  Again, should not be a problem.
