It was an awesome experience watching a few hundred Patriot Riders escort the traveling Vietnam Memorial into Munford today. It will be open through Sunday. Look forward to paying my respects

I would like to do that. I had volunteered at one of the moving walls three years in a row. Our VFW post handled it at the Trail Of Honor. They give you big books full of the names and numbers, a bunch of pencils and pieces of paper, the families and friends come up, you look up the name and walk them over. Usually they are older so you do the stencil for them.

 

You only have to hear "That was our son" "or brother" or "my best friend, we served together" once. Talk about a humbling experience. Hear it 200 times a day, you really realize what freedom means. I have two older fellas from my neighborhood and a cousin on that wall, couldnt stop looking at all the names. Too many names.

 

I have been to the wall in DC many times, but the moving walls are so well made and represented, there really isnt a lot of difference. Its not about the wall, its about the names on the wall.

 

When I see you Patriot Riders doing what you do, I think its a great thing.

Been to the wall once in DC. Brought back to many bad memories and even brought out some anger I had not felt in many years so I have never wanted to make a second trip. I do respect all of you that do help with the Traveling Wall and salute you all for your hard and rewarding work.... :usa: :usa:
