AGREED! Them and primary arms. Killer.

I missed out on the PSA blem upper sale, all sold out. Primary Arms has a YHM upper I want but can't shell out the $650 quite yet with the holidays.
PSA just put up a moving sale to help clean out a warehouse, right now just LPKs but I'm watching for an upper.

Probably not up to the quality most are looking for, but I am thinking about picking up a couple of these.

I already have one of the

Cree Led Flashlight Torch Adjustable Focus Zoom Light Lamp

One thing to watch for on amazon is they seem to have different makers and different battery requirements.  I picked one that uses AA for easy replacement.

I don't have the following item but I put it on my list for my next order to go with the Cree flashlight.

I just started looking for the parts for my receiver. This is my first build and looking forward to the learning experience. Quick question: I see that the parts are listed as either Mil-Spec or Commercial-Spec. I'm guessing you probably ought to decide up front which way you want to go. Which is the better route?

That's just for the buffer tube and stock, and they just have to be the same type. I commercial stock will be loose on a milspec tube.

Now that Christmas is over I went ahead and ordered one of the NIB Aim surplus Bolt Carrier Groups. They still had them at $129 so I thinks that's a good bargain. I thought about going cheap on a BCG but I don't think that's a good place to skimp on such a nice receiver set. Maybe I'll go cheap on the hand guard until I'm ready to upgrade. Or maybe not...

Got to figure out how to color a billet lower.  Crayola wasn't the best option.

I'm sure a google of "color fill lower receiver" will get the thread

My son uses finger nail polish, has a few very small brushes, some nail polish remover.

It takes him a bit of time, some times hours. He did my wife's LCR in white, came out nice.

He has did his Glock as well.

I wont let him do mine or any of the rest of our firearms.

I am an "evil black gun" kind of guy.

I used to race motocross and also did mechanic work on others bikes and some really cared about the detailed and pretty stuff. The case covers for the bottom end of the motors usually had the manufacturers name cast or machined into the cover so we would sometimes spray paint the whole cover and then wipe away everything that wasn't down in the lettering. What i'm not sure about is, the covers were typically a gloss finish that the paint wiped off easily but with these lowers being a flat finish i'm not sure if the excess paint would simply wipe off.

Yeah, best bet for color fill is enamel paints. It can be fingernail polish, model car paint or even go custom from a paint shop...just ask for a sample and that is plenty for a few firearms. Pick up a couple cheap arts and craft brushes if you must but anything that can lay a drop or two at a time is fine. Use thinner to keep it from drying fast on you. Cover it all and use a business card to scrape off the excess. Finally use an old t-shirt rag with thinner to blot up the excess. Careful not to wipe though as it will wipe it from in the grooves. Then just let it sit over night.

I have used these to fill in markings:

They're $5, really easy to use (it's difficult even for me to screw it up), and quick.  I've been using the same sticks for years. After they've sat unused for months or years, just trim a little off the ends and they're ready to use again.
