I have a UTG rail in my parts box. Plenty well made, but heavy.
From what I've read this is true of all their older stuff, and some of the new. The one I posted is only 1.7 ounces heavier than the DD lite rail in 12". Or at least the advertised weights I should say Edited by KKing

I know they have lightened them up some. Mine is an old one.

I have a UTG Leapers Scope I bought for my new build.. it seems pretty good. it's the 3-12 x 44 Tactical..

I've got UTG receiver extension/stock sets on 2 rifles,  "tactical" endplates on three and high rise scope mounts on one. All been fine.

Word seems to be Leapers/UTG  took a pretty good quality leap some years back. ATI maybe not so much I think, and folks get the two confused?

I'm building an AR for a buddy and just completed the upper with UTG sights and rail. Rail is good, but I wouldn't recommend the sights. They are a little wobbly. I'm sure they'll work okay for 100-200m, but just not sturdy enough for me.

I've been on the fence for a bit. Kinda been waiting for an affirmative nod from someone who's made a few transactions.

I buy from them some, always a good deal, ya have to watch the ship date.

Some times it could take 2 weeks to get your stuff.

that's good to know, thanks for the info!

I'll amen this, especially their "blem" uppers. I've gotten several from there for $50, the only thing that classified them as a blem was the fact they didn't get stamped with the PSA logo. I've never received one that I would consider an actual blem, and I'm rather picky.

FWIW, this quad rail is super sturdy, light, and made in the U.S.
I ordered one a few weeks back and I'm really impressed. I have $200 Troy rails that I'm not as impressed with per dollar spent. Before you say it, no it's not for airsoft

I've got that rail on my 300AAC and have been pleased with it so far. I'm not a big quad rail fan but at the sale price I found I figured I could deal with it and have had zero issues with it.

Ok, I'm about ready to get my LPK and buffer/stock for this build. I'm not too picky... just want a basic adjustable stock and trigger group. I prefer the nicer Hogue/Magpul style grips to that terrible hard plastic job you get with the $600 ARs.

What's the best deal? I found this http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/featured/psa-acs-l-lower-build-kit.html Whaddyou guys think?

Maybe after a few more weeks I'll get my upper. I'm going to get a flat-top heavy barrel somethin' or other. We'll see what's out there later. :-)

PSA is usually very competitively priced. I haven't shopped that deal, but I'm willing to bet it's right in line with other retailers, if not cheaper.

I have gotten two of their STR lower kits at $139 each , very good deals.

Oh Snap, Oh Shoot! Thanks for catching that! I do pretty much all my shopping on my phone now and miss some things like that every now and then! :/

That other kit looks like the one for me! AND cheaper! Dig it!! That'll buy me like what... 7 rounds of 5.56?! ;-)

Lots of us are pretty good at spending other folks' bucks. :)

Actually, I'm a big PSA fan, in spite of their often crummy turn around times and communication, have two (mostly) PSA midlength rifles.

Oh, and I'm not going to be looking for minute-of-gnat accuracy or shooting heavy bullets, just the standard 55-62gr stuff... is a 1in7 twist all I need?

I built an AR years ago but had to sell, and have since forgotten all the research and work I put into the darn thing. I'm lazy now and don't want to pore over it all again... that's why I have you guys, right?! :-D

Also, I think I had a chrome-line bore last time... that being the most durable, IIRC. Is that right?

Yeah, 1:7 fine for those, and also better than 1:9 for any heavier stuff too, but not probably for lighter weight loads.

Chrome is of course fine, melonite is as good or better, plain chrome-moly is the one that's not lined at all, though lots of folks say it's more accurate and just as durable if you clean it regularly, but probably splitting hairs.

If you get a PSA barrel that states made by FN, they claim some kind of double deep super duper chrome lining or somesuch, but anyway they are very good barrels by all accounts.

Thanks again, OS. Good info.

Red, I checked out the rguns stuff. Is it bad that I want one of their nickel-boron coated uppers? I think that two tone look could be pretty sweet... or completely terrible! I'm on the fence about it... maybe I'll dig around to see pics of somebody else doing it, and see if it looks terribly stupid or not. ;-)

I'm not trying to steer you away from buying from those guys, but I'd say research them just as you would anyone.
As far as the 2 tone deal, I'm not a big fan of the upper and lower being different colors, but now the same color looks great to me. I like when the handguard gets done as well. I also may or may not be coating a build right now, I cannot confirm or deny.

I bought a 16" carbine A2 1 in 9 complete upper from Rguns last year. It is very accurate and the quality was good, shipped fast. I think they were $409 last year, seems like they went up about $20 now, still not bad. I have it mated to a polymer lower right now.

I just received my barreled 16" carbine A2 1 in 7 upper, minus BCG & CH, from PSA. It is the chrome lined FN barrel. It was one of those daily deals, $299 was a deal for sure. I am going to use it on 1 of my TGO lowers when they arrive. I am leaning toward a 20" barrel with the TGO upper to go on the other TGO lower, Not sure yet but I am shopping around.

I am still shopping for a stock & buffer for at the moment. I am leaning toward magpul MOE or CTR.
