Slugs for Saiga 12

So, just picked up a new Saiga 12 - 19", has chrome lined bore. Curious as to slug type. I'm pretty sure sabots would be safe, not very accurate due to lack of rifling though. What about the old style slugs (foster), which I have used in other smoothbore shotguns? Any safety problem using these? The barrell has only external threads on the muzzle with a thread protector, no screw-IN tubes.

Thanks guys,

Mike

R1100R - thanks. I'm taking a few 12's out tomorrow to shoot, 870 20" smoothbore rifle sights, Mossy 835 slug gun, Franchi LAW 12, and the new Saiga 12. Really wanting to know safety factor of using standard, not sabot, slugs in the Saiga 12. Only have a few sabots (more $ factor for mere blasting), and many "foster" types such as Remington 2 3/4" Sluggers.

Mike

BTW - that 1100 of yours fully rifled, rifled remchoke, or smoothbore.

It had a smooth bore deer slayer barrel with rifle sights and a see through scope mount. I got it in the 70's in Germany. I don't think Remington makes them anymore.

Gave it to my brother years ago. I now use a Remington O/U and a Mossy 500.

I've shot a bunch of Federal LE Tactical slug (foster) from my Saiga with good results.

Thanks Todd - that's exactly what I hoped to hear. Now, off to the range!
