..with good conscience I could have a beer or two while reloading but I just feel that it would be very irresponsible. I don't even drink away from home. Something very appealing about spending an evening kicking back, relaxing, turning on netflix, having a couple beers, and just reloading away. Oh well. Just out of curiosity, how do you guys feel about it? I'm sure some of you out there do it anyway, lol.

Brass prep, casting, sizing, pan lubing, blanking or stamping gas checks (yup, I make my own) ill drink if I wanna.

I drink while I reload. Not ashamed to say it. Also have a progressive press and feel comfortable knowing if I put the brass in and set a bullet on a case I can't mess up. I don't get even bussed but ill have a beer or two and watch a movie on my laptop and enjoy my alone time.

I prime while watching TV, and listen to tunes while I reload in the garage. I don't drink so that's not an issue for me. I do, however, not like distractions. Music has never been a distractor for me, but keeps me in a rhythm while loading. When wifey comes and wants to yak about something, she now knows to wait a second while I finish the round I'm working on. Then I stop, we chat (as quickly as possible!) and I shoo her out of my cave. :-)

I'll drink a couple while prepping brass. I have sipped a beer while reloading with a friend who wasn't drinking, but lately have avoided that.
I always have the radio going when I'm in the garage loading, don't find it to be a distraction. And I hand prime pistol brass while watching TV.

I'm in the same boat Red. I don't drink, we don't even have alcohol in the house. Just not my thing. No judgements towards others...

 

I enjoy the solitude and focus of reloading...kind of a Zen thing. :pleased:

Sounds like a practice you don't want to add more possibility of human error to, and drinking certainly leaves things open for increased possibility of error. Of course, having a few beers doesn't mean squat, in my opinion. I usually have a beer every day with lunch, sometimes two. If you can't handle a couple of drinks without concern for losing judgement then you probably shouldn't, but if you're like me I don't see the problem.

I think folks get too wrapped around the axle when it comes to drinking and doing anything. Some folks believe that the second you have a sip of beer you no longer have control of your faculties. I think this comes from a combination of sources, as folks either project the perception that all people who drink can't control themselves or a person can't control themselves when they drink and therefore feel as if no one else can. I'm a big boy and I know how much I can handle before I am no longer in control. Sometimes I like to get to that level, but I know it before I get there. Otherwise, I know where my level is at, so I also know how not to get there.
