Gun Safe Stolen in Cheatham County- Beware a Cheap Safe

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Channel 4 dropped by our warehouse the other day wanting some footage of a gun safe for a story they were doing,  What was the story? Well it seems a gun owner had purchased a cheap safe from TSC and didn't bolt it down and shockingly someone broke in and stole the entire safe and along with it his gun collection and other valuables.

Here's the story that channel 4 ran :   http://www.wsmv.com/video?clipId=9423403&autostart=true

Moral of this story?  Buy a good quality safe that is secure and heavy enough to keep someone from getting your hard earned valuables  AND by all means BOLT IT DOWN !

Another example of a cheap safe that was bolted down but was beaten open with a mini sledge hammer.

Drop by we would be happy to show you a good quality safe .

My wife heard this on the news and wanted to know how it happened. I hadn't heard the story, but I said that it should have been bolted down and it wasn't. They just rolled it out on an appliance dolly.  They did have to know that he had a gun safe, though. I wonder how they knew that.

I read a story back a few months ago about someone stealing a gun safe. It was bolted down and they cut the floor and wall out with a sawzall.

Like many of these type of thefts, they likely had some type of association with the scumbags. Could have been movers, someone who worked on the home at some point, family, "friends", friends of family or "friends".

I try not to let anyone know what I have, but there's almost no way around someone finding out.

Sad these things happen, someone will get theirs in the end, OL St Peter will be asking a few questions.

I know a guy who has been broken into twice in the last five years. First time was a week after he had Dish installed and the guy came in to install wiring the second was a week after he and his wife had a housewarming party. Last month he let some door to door people come in and clean the carpet in one room for free. He called me and said he had given me a reference and they wanted to clean a room for me for free. I said NO. And I told him he might just get broken into again. Don't let people know you have guns and don't let strangers come into your house.

But to get back to the OP, I saw one of the same safes at a TSC just a couple of months ago. It had been damaged in delivery, they had it marked down to half price, it had a small dent in the top but the top had split from the sides. Not good safes.

1510AM had a short blurb last week in their news minutes. I wonder if it might have been someone on here?

+1 Safe House for bringing this up

My 2 safes are steal-able..........they just have to knock down one block wall poured with cement for the basement and get out 2 bolts of the one upstairs......after taking the whole bedroom suite out of the bed room. Maybe if you had a long weekend it's doable.
