I am thinking about getting a Bersa  22 cal pistol. I have a couple of the Bersa 380 Thunders I love and I am wondering if anyone here has a Bersa 22 cal and if so how do you like it. I have a couple 22 semi autos already but would like to have a little bigger framed 22 cal than the ones I have now and the Bersa 22 has the same frame as the 380. Would like any information I can get if some one has one.....

Like Dolomite says, I have one.  In all honesty it is one of my favorite pistols for plinking and is usually in the range bag.  Great fun to shoot and is very accurate.

My specimen does seem a bit finicky on ammo, not really liking Federal bulk much (FTE) but it eats Remington Golden Bullets like candy.  Strangest thing I've ever seen.  !00% reliable with that crappy ammo.  Will run on mini-mags as well, just like everything else.  So I think it likes a little extra pepper in the round.

I only have one mag for mine and they are not easy to find at would I would consider a reasonable price.  Seems like Bersa is the only place you can get extras.

Anyway I would recommend it if you are truly interested in one.

Thanks for your input. I know about the magazine issues as i have 8 back ups for my two 380 and they are an after market brand that work very well for me and the guns both like them. An FFL dealer from here on the site located them for me and got them and shipped them to me. Not as pricy as Bersa was on theirs. If I decide to get one I will first see if he can get mags for them in 22 cal. Again thanks for the input.

Garufa's telling it like it is.  Bersa's .22 can be picky.  It shot CCI high velocity and Remy GBs with good consistency and occasionally I could get a magazine full Federal Auto Match through it.  As I recall, it liked Aguila high velocity, too.  Save your other .22 fodder for revolvers, lever and bolt actions, or semis that aren't that choosy.

I have one of the Firestorm .22's. Great little fun gun for some cheap practice. Mine has eaten everything I've fed it, but I've noticed that if you limp wrist it, it will stovepipe almost every time.

Thanks for all the replies. I have a matched pair of Phoenix 22 semi's and I was really surprised and impressed with them. They perform exceptionally well with just about any ammo and both shoot equally well for an inexpensive gun but I am looking at the Bersa's because I want something with a bigger frame but not a break the bank price tag. Buds has one for $297.00 with 10 round mag. I don't guess that is a bad price for it. I may look at doing something the first of the week on this. Again thanks for all the input folks.

I got one of them Phoenix bean shooters, too. Had to have the first one replaced (free) cause the CCI that it liked caused the frame to crack at the top of the mag well under the slide. That has to be some of the thinnest metal ever in a gun. They sent me a new one and it shot the cheap stuff a lot more reliably than the first one did. I also do away with that mag safety, too with a little metal work. The thing is a lot more accurate than a friends Walther P22, even with the 3" barrel (have the 5" also). It usually just stays in my GH/BO pack for backup, though. Never shot a Bersa .22. Need to find one and give it whirl 'cause I like their Thunder series.

I had a friend tell me he also had that problem and had to send his back and when he got a new replacement he noticed that the gun was slightly heavier and said that the metal piece that was giving them an issue had been changed to a slightly heavier metal and he said his would also accept cheaper ammo then his original one would. I think they got the issue resolved now but both of mine have always accepted the cheaper ammo with little to no issues and they are a really fun gun to shoot and are accurate for an inexpensive gun.
