Obama's Military

......I don't see a conspiracy brewing in obsolete military equipment being offered to local governments but to each their own. If anything I see it as a good thing to have such equipment transfer from federal government control and into local hands.

If the local hands included the citizens and not only government agencies NO MATTER how benign these agencies may now be...

Lots of people may think the article is BS, but when it happens you won't.

Strange view seems to me, since you've already lived through a decade of outright firearm and magazine bans under a much less overall progressive socialist regime than the present one. And Manchin-Toomey didn't actually ban anything.

Yeh, the pressure of the NRA and others kept it at Manchin-Toomey. Remember what was proposed first, right at the end

of a nasty shooting. That decade long fiasco only banned stupid stuff, other than the magazines, which was stupid, also.

You could still go out and buy pre-ban mags, remember? I built pre-ban rifles during that time. That AWB was a joke, but

it could have been made into something much worse with a Dem House and senate, and the right circumstances.

In other words, it wasn't a ban like what the communists really want.

No one knows for sure what Obama had on his mind, but I do know what is on my mind.

If they ban guns, rest assured mine will not be taken. Also, should he try to turn our military on the American citizens, as long as I am able, I will appropriately respond until I no longer can defend myself.

Obama already has enough homeland security and it's minions available and probably ready to take on US citizens. I do not approve of anarchy or sedition, but at some point I firmly believe there will be a roll call for those prepared to defend and die to support and protect our Constitution.

How about this offical report? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ri9ioCbqJCU

I remember the same exact words being spoke just prior to "Y2K".

I'm still the type of person who needs contextual evidence and critical thinking before jumping off the deep end.

We've already discussed that here. I was a training event done in a city. The US military has been doing that since they first formed. I've done dozens of training events in cities across the country, even some in Nashville (the horror) and I don't recall there ever being some kind of sinister plot to subject the citizenry to some wacky martial law. Context, context, context. Leave emotion out of it, think critically and look up the word "context".

What? I live next to the river and have Chinooks buzzing my house once a week, at least. For some reason I'm not "terrified" as this emotional article points out. We have a military. They exist. Why is that so scary to some people?

I agree with you that the military has been doing readiness exercises for decades. The public is use to seeing all types of military vehicles on the move in every state at any given time of the month, but in this day and time with the political and economical uncertainty as they are, unannounced blank firing drills in populated areas tends to increase speculations of the general public.

They were announced though, just everyone didnt get the memo. There is no way to ensure everyone living in an area will get notified, because not everyone reads the paper, watches the news or reads through all their junk mail. I've done high vis and low vis type training in urban areas. Even got into a gunfight using blanks with local law enforcement on multiple occasions in urban areas. Every time there is someone who calls 911. What are ya gonna do? World ain't perfect, doesn't mean there is anything sinister afoot each time you see a guy in uniform.

I still agree with you TMF, but there are scared people in scary times. I think it wise to be attuned to everything that is going on around us.
