If elections were Friday, he'd win by a larger margin than he did in November.

Boehner will be remembered for holding an opposition as long as he has with as little as he's got. But, while you might be able to argue that the GOP is trying to take the first step of getting the defense off the field, they're a long way from being able to mount an effective offense.

It's conceivable the GOP could die as a party over the next decade or less, just a Whig like memory.

Which could be quite good or very bad, hard to know.

Agreed.

If the elections were on Friday, do ya think we could save the country?

Wouldn't matter unless they changed hands like Alexander did with Blanton in our state, years ago, but the

machinery is probably in motion that might not be able to be stopped. Hard to say.

I think the majority of the people are just so apathetic to what's happening in DC, that the country can't survive our Capitalistic, and Constitutional Republic form of government much longer. It only works when people are active in their civic duties, and hold their representatives accountable for running our nation.

It's really depressing to watch segments like The Factor's  Watter's World when they interview the folks on the street about issues.

Especially when you realize someone could do a nightly, one hour show like that and not run out of material. You find material to broadcast for years just going to college campuses.

The 2 parties are really 6 in one hand, half a dozen in the other.

However, one will definitely take your guns, if that matters to ya.

I'd like to see a return to the days of Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr myself, on the White House lawn.

Pay-per-view of course with the proceeds going toward the national debt.

And you don't have to be Rocket Scientist to know which party wants to take them.

And they will definitely try to take your whole paycheck for big government and social programs.

The way I see it, obama, before his first election was talking about a single payer health care ( Government run ) for all Americans. He pushed the Affordable ( yeah right ) Health Care Act down our throats knowing it would fail. Can't repeal it so, direct path to single payer. After today's budget vote, obama's next proirity is immigration reform. He wants eleven million ( some estimates are twenty million ) more liberal voters, which he will get with support from the republican Congress. I think that after the 2016 election, the republican party will fade within a year or two. I have voted Republican since 1967, and the last time that I felt real good about who I voted for was Ronald Regan.

Yep, the ACA is definitely merely prelude to the eventual US Socialized Medicine Program, and the primary liberal players have counted on that all along.

For the rest of your prognostication, I can't disagree. For all the individual pockets of true conservatism touted by conservative outlets, the over national trend is toward the moderate to uber left.

The House and many state legislatures have managed to stay red because of long time successful efforts in out-gerrymandering the Dems, but you can't do that with the Senate or the Presidency. And you can't necessarily do it successfully in the big cities anywhere.

And the GOP isn't doing a damn thing to help their own image. And no, a few Spartacus-esque figures like Cruz and Lee aren't helping either, however much you may admire their principled spunk. But the fact was there was no pot to win, was just throwing away the ante and all the subsequent bets -- and matter of fact, the Dems got in several nice pieces of pork in the CR that wouldn't have been in there at all sans the ongoing futile opposition.

Anyway, I can't imagine anything but (again)  Really Bad Times happening to avert Hildebeest's coronation, expect the Senate to stay safely Dem, and expect the House to lose ground over time in spite of it's jury rigged voting districts.

That's for certain.  One thing I know, even if they disarm through incrementalism, they'll never get enough guns to make them safe if they push it too far.
