People who choose to live in areas that repeatedly get nailed by storms make a choice, I see no reason why my tax dollars need to go to these folks. This includes florida NO and any one else. Sorry for there plight but the bottom line is it was a free choice

I don't know about that, JackDog. If you extended that logic to other major natural disasters then over half of this great nation ours would be uninhabitable. You couldn't live on the west coast for earthquakes, forest fires, and land slides. The plains would be out because of tornadoes, and the gulf coast has hurricanes.

I don't have a problem with people living in tornado alley, or on a river flood plain, or earthquake zone, or fire area or wherever. But I have a problem with people choosing to live there and then expecting other people to pay to help them out when the disaster happens.

The oil industry from Texas to New Orleans was taking no chances either, shutting down nearly all offshore platforms and many refineries as Gustav threatened the region that pumps a quarter of the U.S. oil supply.

They are already laying the ground work for the $1 or $2 a gallon gas price increase that will follow.
