Converting Glock 10 rd. mags to 13 rd.???

Recommended Posts

I have several post ban Glock 23 10 rd. magazines and I was wondering if I can buy new parts for the mags to convert them to 13 rd.

Anyone know if this is possible? And if so, where's the best place to buy the parts?

Thanks!

I don't think you can without a lot of grinding. Look inside your mags. I think Glock added material inside the mag body to stop you from what you are trying to do.

The 10 round mags have a different body.

That sucks--I knew the LEO-only mags had different followers, but did not know the 10 round mags had diffeent tubes.

Yep...took one apart this evening and the inside walls are thicker. Dang, I've got four of these too.....I guess they might come in handy if Nobama gets elected!

I have a couple of the LEO only mags myself (don't ask :screwy:). They were made during the mag ban years for law enforcement/gov use. The mags are stamped "Restricted LE/GOVT Only" and they're high cap versions. Mine are for my G23 and they appear no different than my 10 rounders except they are 13 rounders and are stamped "Restricted LE/GOVT" Both the 10 rd. and the 13 rd. have the SAME followers...#5's.

Back during the bad ole' days, BATF required that the new "nuetered" magazine produced for US sales could not be readily converted to accept more than 10 rounds. Usually this involved different mag body designs, or different methods of attaching the floorplate. (I.E. ban-era Para-Ord or H&K 10 rounders lack the bottom ridge to attach the floorplate from a standard-cap mag, they only worked with the capacity-limiting floorplates.) If the mags could be easily made to accept more than 10 rounds, the BATF would not have allowed them to be sold.

I would put them up for sale on Glocktalk or on Gunbroker. Someone in one of the castrated states might want them.

After the ban expired I sold my old pre-ban mags that were getting a bit worn to some poor bastard in New Jersey who still needed pre-bans.

BTW I didn't gouge him I sold them for a very fair price, far below what I paid during the dark days.
