New HCP ...WTF?

Recommended Posts

Renewed by mail about a month ago..., kept the paper with the old permit as required..., just got the new permit in the mail today, only it's a new design, and has, in addition to the permit #, another 16 digit "DD" number.  What the heck is that?

I dont know but my new DL Issued in 2012 and hcp iSSUED IN 2011 both have the dd # and they are different

Scarily, almost all of the states new licenses now have a DD# on them. I'm pretty sure this is a part of some federal ID system.

New holograms on the front and bar codes on the back of each state issued card as well as the DD code  have been put in place by the Department of Safety and Homeland Security.

â€œIt does not in anyway identify the driver or any of the driver’s information, just the card itself.

bs.gifWhy do they even print something like that.

Wouldn't it be easier if they just implanted a RFID in my forehead or wrist?

They would do that but if you lost your head or wrist, what would they do?

RFID are pretty easy to disable though.   I would not worry about it.

They do not NEED to do that.  99% of the population in the USA carry one already.  It can be used to locate you.  It can be used to listen to you.  It can often be used to look at or around you.  It will tell the hacker who you are.  It often contains personal info.  It is often connected to additional sources of voluntary information such as your political opinions (sites you visit, posts you make) or other online habits.  Its called a smartphone.

The number on the card is probably yet another failure to prevent fake ID production.  The good guys have no clue --- it won't help, if that is the goal.  Think about it one of the following is true:

- it can be used to ID you, and they lied, let the paranoia ensue?

- it can't be used to ID you, so any valid number hacked onto a fake ID is valid (yes, a document with this number exists, check!).

I'm only half evil.

Nope all EVIL!!   Some say 3:33 is the moment Jesus died on the cross. Or at least thats what someone told my sister when she was waking up at 3:33 am for a solid week,

The preferred method involves a shower, a bar of soap..... :jester:

To misquote an old commercial "Only his proctologist knows for sure."

Would that have been Jerusalem Daylight Time, Golgotha Standard, or what? ;)

I vote forehead. Maybe it will disrupt that invisible sign I've always had that attracts crazy women.
