What does an obamaphone look like??

Recommended Posts

Actually, if you want to see a real one, Assurance Wireless, one of the providers and the one I get the most mail from, currently gives you a Kyrocera JAX S1300 or S1310, with 250 free minutes and 250 free texts per month, and you can kick in 5, 20, or 30 clams to get more.

Well the Kyocera has icons that say find a friend suitcase means go on a free trip, get money and the wrench is what u push to get out of a jam. Or get obamacare for your car.Although I would say the conspiracy gang would think when the globe button is pushed Obama gets another vote .the mail button must mean send money to this new address, or send free stamps to the user. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 of course it ate my spelling. Edited by Dustbuster

I figure it looks a lot like a picture of Ronald Reagan, since the program was created by his administration in 1984.  Or perhaps Bill Clinton since it was expanded under his administration.  Or even George W. Bush, since his administration was the one that extended it from landlines over to cheap cell phones. There are plenty of things to bash Obama for, but this isn't one of them.  It makes about as much sense as blaming Nixon for the NFA.

Baltimore woman hoards 30 "Obama Phones" at Taxpayer Expense

Watch the video and look at the jump in phones from 2008 to 2011. It is a shame that so many folks want to get over on the system for the folks who really need the help.

anything --- most of these programs collect old phones that people no longer want and redistribute them.  The phones are of little to no value, so the issue is paying for the access/time on the towers.  Which is likely either donated or at-cost from the service providers (????).   Its by far not the worst program in terms of wastefulness.  There is probably 10X more waste in food stamp / EBT abuse than the phones.  I am not saying I approve of the program, just that it is probably one of the lower cost entitlements.

There is only one program, LifeLine.  Multiple vendors.

I don't know where you get that about old phones ... Assurance in my post above (a division of Virgin Mobile) gives you a new Kyrocera phone. I suppose it's representative of all the Life Line vendors, don't know if each one gives out same phone, but no way any of them could support a hodgepodge of used phones.

"Your Assurance Wireless phone comes with a one-year warranty from the original equipment manufacturer." Obviously no used phones from them.
