Kentucky Says "No More Post Game Handshakes at Highschools"

It looks like there have been some scuffles after the game during the "good game" handshakes, so Kentucky High Schools are going to just stop the ritual alltogether.

When I played sports, skipping the handshake was not even an option. If you didn't do it, you didn't play next week. It taught us respect for others whether we win or lose, and that we can do battle on the field but at the end of the day we can go home friends.

But no, we have to be this nanny state, sissy-fied, politically correct society, where the rulers protect us from ourselves.

How about this: We teach kids how to be grown ups, where we don't just take our ball and go home when something doesn't go our way. How about we teach the kids the meaning of personal accountability and if you hit an opponent after the game, you are booted from the team for the season and maybe take a few days off to think about your actions.

I see it more of a symptom of the moral decay of our society. So many people today are out for themselves and to hell with everyone else. It's apparent on the highway, on the lake while fishing, in the restaurant and about anywhere in public. I heard one report that said they had dealt with 16 fights after sporting events this year alone. Seems like the total was over 30 fights over the past 3 years. Some were adults confronting umpires and other officials.......crazy.

I heard today that one school system has stopped kids from playing with any type of ball whether it be a foot ball or baseball or basket ball volly ball period. They said to many kids get hurt by them. I bet Marbles would probably be considered a deadly weapons then huh?????

Eh, I've been in a few scuffles during the post game handshake. Folks that take stuff personally use that as an opportunity to run their mouth. Had one who shoved me as my hand was extended; can't fault a guy for taking the bait on that one. Post game scuffles are as important as post game handshakes. Let boys be boys.
