Well, since I don't ware a watch I guess I'd have to say NO! If you do need a watch buy a Timex, they'll take a lickin' and keep on tickin' and all for about $30 bucks.

The one on the left is the oldest of them all... A 1968 Omega Nasa Speedmaster. The one NIB box is a 5 year old Rolex Air King, the other is a Two Tone Submariner with "band issues", circa 1990, but has been upgraded with a sapphire crystal when serviced this year.

Dave, neither can I. Part of the conditions of acceptance is I have the watches authenticated. All accessories except for the scope and rings are HK factory.

No... because someone lowballed you with an offer to trade watches (grandpa ones at that) for a really nice original HK...:D

Keep the rifle, at least until after the election results are in.

You sure? I checked recent sales results and 2tone subs are bringing $3,500-4,500, Speedmasters $1,900 - $2,400 and Vintage Time Masters from $900 - $1,300.00

Am I undervaluing my arm and accessories that much? Please note, I purchased most of this crap new... the rifle had sat on a sporting goods store shelf in Utah for more than 4 years when I bought it new in 1982 (It is an HI dated gun, made in 1978). I know I paid $350.00 for the sub-cal unit and recently turned down $1,500.00 last time I posted a picture on HKPRO.com But I figured this assembly of accessories and gun would be about $6,500.00

And I like collecting Guns, Fountain Pens and automatic/mechanical watches, in that order....

The Obama Administration won't be banning Rolex watches so I can tell you right now which of those will have more value if that hack gets elected. :D

WTF man!

That is a no brainer as long as they are inspected and certified.

Let me put my name in the hat on that Speedmaster! I have been looking for one of that vintage!

Nah man its not the money thing. I probably should have described myself better. Its just... their watches. Rolex... yeah but still.

With a potential ban coming i'd hang on to the rifle. Remember what happened with the last AWB? The price of those rifles soar! Plus, do you collect watches? If not... and you wear them... worth seems to go down.

Joe, I was figuring to let out the Air King on Ebay to pay for the Suppressor and tax stamp for the SASS, have a little left over for the 37 and maybe that over-priced POS PSL sitting in your rack which I finger in disgust every time I've walked in your store for the last month. That PSL has a trigger pull to the next county, breaks like a friggin tupperwear storage container. We'll need to talk about your pricing on that one next time I'm in the store. It's so Fruggly it might need to find a place in the back of my safe where it can hide.

Kind of oneupsmanship for the Sub, though. My Bro while at Annapolis got a SS one from his sponsor... He gave me his surplus'ed 1970's vintage issue that only keeps time if you don't shake it (but only twice in 24 hours). and the Omega, well, I have had a JB Champion band for about 10 years that I've been looking to put one of these watches in... (eew, to feel just like Deke Slayton before lift off), uh huh...

But, well, that HK is the first NEW- New in box gun I ever purchased. 1982... It took me 20 years to gather those accessories together. I think I have every one available (except the 4x hensoldt calibreated to 5.56).

Tough decision. There is so much I could do in the world with that many watches...

ya know... I can replace everyone of these watches, but can I replace this collection of rifle and accessories? guess I answered my own question... for now.

Likely not for what you would get out of it in trade right now. :D

If the watches are genuine yes I would.Someone mentioned the last AWB and the prices, best I could remember the prices went up but nobody was paying them. You saw the same dealers with the same guns for several years at gun shows. Most people were not paying those prices.

Everyone needs a Rolex!:D

But ironically enough I have been thinking of selling my Daytona to rise funds for some guns, and a new car

Seems to me that you already have the gun, which is at the head of your list. I wouldn't trade.

I wouldn't trade , You can find those watches realativly cheap in you know where to look. For instance I bought an Omega like that for 1500.00tax and all. The Rolex can be found if you have the connections.

I guess the question to ask you is do you have a watch interest or do you think you can sell them for more profit?

Don't forget even if they are real watches they may need to be serviced and each one could be $500.00 or more. Do figure that in the price as well.

HK are had to come by and just good guns.

I don't sell good guns!

My .02 cents is that for the money the 3 watches have more value. BUT I would ask myself, "self, is HK bringing any more of these gun into the country?" The answer is no they are not. Just look at the 90 series guns have done in the last few years. Just think how much they will cost in 5 or ten years. You will be able to buy 5 watches with what it will be worth. Just my .02.

I'd do it in a heartbeat, but I have a soft spot for watches that I don't have for guns. I'm not much of a collector when it comes to firearms, I like to see them come and go, but those watches look like keepers.

Posted

Noooooooooooo deal. Take it from a NY guy. You can pick up one of those watches on any table on a NY city street for $15 bucks....or 2 for $10..as the deal goes.

BTW..you will need a firearm if you ever plan on wearing those watches. I have seen watches, neck chains, rings..and countless purses "run" away....

If you just want a store of value that is easily converted to cash anywhere, and is easy to carry around, even out of the country....then the watches are better in that regard. But that's a very nice rifle! Kind of an heirloom to hand down to your son.
