Hornady 22 cal. Soft point bullets for .223?

I never shot over 200 yards, but they were quite accurate. Maybe the most accurate of the 55gr soft points. Depending on your rifle, you'll probably have to go to a match bullet to find something more accurate.

I usually shoot Nosler and Sierra .I get great accuracy out of the 50 and 55 grain ballistic tips in my Savage mdl.10 PC and my Stevens mdl.200 .223.Also use 65 grain game king and 69 gr.MK Sierra. I just bought these Hornady to try cause they where around .13 each. Edited by jeff43

What kind of powder are you using and what kind of rifle are you shooting ?I tried some in my Bushmaster AR this morning,16" barrel 3x Nikon scope and got a 2" group 3" high.I was using 25 grains of 2230,that's the powder I use in my bolt guns.I may try some IMR 4895 or 4320 in the AR.I hadn't tried them in the bolt guns yet.

I picked some up a while back just for the fact that they were cheaper than the fmj sitting next to them but I have yet to load any of them. You get yours at Outpost?

I use Midways Dogtown 55gr bullets all of the time and they are great. I believe they are made by hornday or Sierra. I also have some HP's from Midsouth Shooters in .224 and .204, but haven't shot them yet. I think they are supposed to be manufactured by Nosler. Reviews on them are pretty good. I don't know if they are seconds or just have a thinner jacket, but for .11 cents a piece, they're worth a try.

I think with any of these, it will be about a gun with the right twist. Are they good in your 1 in 7 twist AR, maybe not. Will they be very good in your 12 or 14 twist bolt action, my experience has been yes.

The Midway Dogtowns are a excellent value.  I use them in .223 & .204 in several weights & styles.  They are very consistent weight and uniform shape.

Ive got about 550 loaded up now, I buy them when they are cheaper than the 55gr FMJ.

Sounds like that's the reason everyone, myself included has bought them. I loaded up 300 of them wed. night so I could give them a whirl at the Woodbury range tomorrow.
