Just wondering if anybody is having any luck so far this year and if the deer are moving much?

I went last Saturday and saw 6 deer and 11 turkey.  The deer never came in range though, they hovered around 50 yards or so.  Plenty of movement at the place I hunt but since I'm not made of money I dont get out very often.

One doe so far, just put the meat in the freezer as a matter of fact.  :yum:  And then sat down to enjoy spaghetti made with deer meat from the buck I killed last year.

I've been twice. Not gonna be able to go much during bow season. My wife is having her left kidney taken out on Monday due to cancer. She will be laid up for awhile. She keeps telling me I should go and that she will be fine. She knows I love my outdoors lol. Good luck to everyone.

I've heard lots of Deer and seen 4.

Where I hunt they are sticking to cover and eating Acorns.

I'm HEARING them because I am Ground Hunting and sitting in pretty dense woods.

I think if I had been hunting edges of clearings I wouldn'

t be seeing them.

I had a close encounter with a LARGE Buck Friday.

I was climbing down an embankment that was pretty steep.

Saw him when I was halfway down....tried to Freeze but I slipped and broke a Twig...SNAP and he ran off.

But I found what was likely his bedding area and lots of Tree Rubs.

The Hunt is on!

15 minutes after that I found 3 Does in tight Woods.

I drew on one but there was Brush in the Way and it was quartered towards me.

The other Does spotted me and it was downhill from there.

Ground Hunting is a blast but it's hard.

If you ever get bored, put on some Moccasins and try it!

P.S.

Something funny about the Buck I saw.

I have NO idea what the Rack was like.

I was totally focused on the Kill Zone and saw how big that was....

Your wife will be in our thoughts. Hoping for a swift recovery.

I saw a doe early last Sun morning, but no shot. My neighbor has seen a few, missed one yesterday morning. Looks like its going to be a wet one here today.

May go over to the barn and shoot the front stuffers a little, get ready for that.

And prayers to the misses, Shaun.

They are moving some out west of Nashville. I think the weather has been keeping them from being too active during daylight hours though.

I usually will see at least a doe w/ yearlings (and some w/ fawns) every time I go out. Haven't gotten any of them closer than 50 yards though. Might need to move my stand. Couple of young bucks are sniffing around but no sign of the big boys. That's ok though... rut will kick in before long and where the does are, the bucks will soon follow.

Deer Hunting is frustrating. For 8.5 months I am wishing for deer season to hurry up and get here, then for the next 3.5 months I wish I had the time to go hunting. So, I'm pretty much frustrated year round. Haha

Walk out my front porch and i see three deer ( a couple does and a fawn). Able to get within 30 yards of them and they aren't spooked. But i live in the city, so no hunting is allowed anyways. Now if SHTF, I'll have some meat.

If it's safe to shoot, use a bow.

So after several days in the woods of seeing very little, I've jumped 3 doe on the way to my stand and then got busted by another one when I was retrieving a raccoon and left my bow in the stand. Well, I'm leaving my buddies parents house tonight which is probably half a mile from Radnor Lake area and what do I see? 3 doe and at least a 6-point buck in their side yard are just hanging out (time probable 8:45pm).  My wife and I just sat there watching them for a few minutes, and I was in awe of the time I've spent driving to Culleoka when I should have just gotten permission to hunt on their 1-2 acre lot. Such is life, and it is good to just see some deer too.

Could have killed 20 in my front and back yard already. There are lots of bucks this year also.
