My neighbor and friend were shot last night

My girlfriend mentioned this morning that she heard what she thought were several gun shots. I must have slept right through the commotion. So much for moving to a nice, quiet neighborhood. As I was already well aware, this can happen anywhere. Edited by TripleDigitRide

Guess he didn't approve of his ex-wife's new bo.  What is even a bit more absurd is you have a guy who possibly (the whole innocent until proven guilty) went in with intent to kill two people and he gets a $15K bail.

WTH is wrong with people?

The same thing that has been wrong with em since adam and eve.  The vast majority are selfish, greedy, and dumb -- a recipe for disaster.

Man you are right, that kind of thing can happen anywhere. A handful of years back a couple friends were over at the house one night, I had worked a little late and was getting ready and we were all headed out to eat dinner. Now I live well out into the country and never imagined what would take place that night. We were headed to the door when all the sudden I hear someone running up my front steps talking about a gun. The door started swinging open and I lunged towards it and kicked it shut knocking whoever it was off the porch. I grabbed the pistol out from under my chair cushion and cracked the door and that's when I saw My neighbors 13-14 year old boy walking back towards his house so I ran out to him because something didn't seem right. I got him spun around, he'd been shot 8 times 2 or 3 of them in the head and the rest from there down to his thighs. I grabbed him and rushed him into my house and luckily one of the friends that was there was a paramedic so he got started on him right away as I tried to figure out what was going on. When I asked him where his parents were here looked up at me a said "I think Momma and Daddy are dead" I asked him who did this and he replied that his cousin (who as I found out later was at that very moment up at their Grandfathers watching tv eating ice cream) I asked him if he was still there and he said no and that he had said he was out of ammo. I took over with the 911 call and let them know what had happened and where the boy was which somehow translated into busting into my house with rifles on us. They ended up putting a chopper down in my front yard to try to get one of the parents somewhere for help but she died before the chopper got on the ground. The boy made it and is now married and a father who now places a lot of faith in being armed.

So yes, this stuff can happen anywhere and even to your very own friends and neighbors.

Gosh, when my first wife found her a new bo and walked out on me and my two boys I loaned her money to get a new place to live with him so she would not need a reason to come back. I even helped her pack. I have a philosophy that goes, "If you want him more than me then you should have him more than me so by all means leave"!!! He wound up beating the hell out of her at least once a week, got her pregnant and then walked out on her and told her if she ever filed for a paternity test or Child support he would kill her. He moved back to St Louis were a few years later he bet a girlfriend to death and is now in prison doing life without parole. She made her bed and I had no plans of messing it up..........lol

No neighborhood is immune to trouble... As Jonnin wisely opined; it has been goin on since Adam and Eve... We live in a relatively quiet neighborhood.

Within sight of my house, there is a guy that shot and killed (...rightfully so, i might add....) a guy who had been threatening him and his family for years... He did time for second degree murder and is back home now...

Right up the hill, there is a young man who is sittin in jail awaiting trial for beating a another idiot to death over a woman...

One of our neighbors (...aged 70...) is constantly worrying about what an ignorant grandpaw and a delinquent absentee dad (...aged 18 or so...) might do to his granddaughter (...aged 22...) and her two year old son...

You dont need to look far to find trouble... Ya just need to be ready when it comes...

It sounds as if my story probably ended up better than yours, but I heard (from my boss) that the Cleveland Lowe's had someone shoot through the glass last night and then rob the place. Then after lunch, my boss informed me again that someone apparently entered Lowe's (also in Cleveland) and was brandishing a firearm. Supposedly they were hunting for someone that was supposed to be in the store and was threatening to shoot them. Supposedly the cops controlled the situation quite well.

People are generally capable of most anything in the right circumstances. Watch your back and the backs of your friends/family. That's about all you can do. Carry and pray and try to come home each day.
