I've seen some pretty cool ideas for concealing guns around your house, but this is my favorite idea yet. I've seen others do it, but this guy really has it all figured out, IMO.

This type of locking mechanism is brilliant too. I saw a guy at the gun show that makes hollow mantles for your fireplace that used this method to open a door where a gun could be stored. It was pretty badass.

Are your wall studs at non-standard widths? Just curious, I may have issues too, haven't checked.

No, just the walls (and ceilings) are clad with oak, not drywall. That's not insurmountable but it's more hassle to work with and it feels wrong to be tearing into it.
