Found my ultimate Survival gun

I was going through some popular mechanics online articles and came aross an article from 2004. It talks about a gun the would allow you to pretty much pick up and fire 25 different cals. all you need to do is load them and pull the trigger. It is called a Medusa 47, I did reserch and now I want one. It would be the perfect gun for the BOB. I know a lot of the 25 cals are hard to find rounds and not used much a.nymore. I still think having the ability to fire 380,9mm,357, and 38 all without changing anything is awesome. I just need to find one or two to pack in the BOBs

The Medusa was one of those great ideas that really didn't work all that great in the real world. A pity really.

I have heard they shoot a very few of the rounds well and most of the rest,  not so well.  I am not sure they are still cheap, been out of production for a while..  last I heard they were closing in on $1k a pop roughly for a pristine example.  Maybe more now ?

Never saw one in person.

Seems to me with the Charter 9mm having a similar extractor in the revolver you might be able to use 9mm and 380 in it

Might be worth looking into

Also if one were patient enough you might be able to fit the 9mm extractor to a .357 revolver giving you 380 through 357 potential caliber choices. 

With the shorter rounds you might have to worry about cylinder fouling and leading up, but you could have at least a 4 caliber revolver then.

Heck if someone were to buy the parts and be willing to pay me to fit them I would try to build it for them... hint hint hint

sounds like a neat idea. closest I've seriously looked at was a ruger Blackhawk convertible with a 9mm and 357 magnum cylinder swap.

 

in other calibers, I have seen a 454 casull revolver that was clearance for moon clips. that gives the ability to shoot 454 casull, 45 colt, 45 acp, 45 auto rim, 45 super and 460 Rowland. pretty sure you could do the same with a 460 smith and Wesson to add 1 more caliber but at the expense of a bigger gun.

 

from a reloading standpoint, you could also load 45 caliber bullets into sabot loads for the .50 muzzle loaders as well as 12 or 20 gauge sabot slugs. 

 

add in a 454 casull lever gun from Rossi and get something between 308 and 30-06 power levels at the muzzle.
