Belly Band holster for the Big Belly man

Recommended Posts

This may be a stupid question, but is a belly band holster a good option for people with big bellies?  Does any of our more portly members have an experience trying them and have brands they could recommend?

the belly band holster does not work well for me.  i not big and have a small belly.  it holds the gun well, but it does not wear well.  the longer the day goes the more it hurts.  i got one to carry my on duty backup gun.  it did not take long before it went to the holster of the month box.

I'm a big guy and often wear a belly band, but usually wear it more at the top of my belly, rotated to hold the gun under my left arm, more like the position of a shoulder holster. I usually carry a large frame 357 snub nose  and find it very comfortable and it conceals well under a sport shirt. I wear the band over an undershirt. The only drawback is I sweat a lot. That's why I carry the revolver, as it is stainless steel. My 9mm had to be cleaned after every carry or it would rust.
