A couple I've got going on...

I've had this one going for over a year now, but just recently had enough time to get it out and start grinding on it. Spots helped me forge it out from a leaf spring on my first or second trip. I had to grind it back quite a bit at the heel of the blade because a crack reared it's ugly head. However, I got that out of the way and like it better now. I still have a lot of work left, but it will get a hemp wrapped handle that I may dye black, but will be impregnated with CA glue. I left the edge thick for heat treating, but it will still wedge itself in a 2x4 due to the shear weight of the thing, it is a skull crusher for sure.

This is one that I forged myself, with a little help from Spots, at my last visit. It is from a piece of RR track clip, it keeps the rail from walking on the tie. It is higher carbon, but a water quench steel. The handle is a store bought one that I have dyed with RIT. I may redo the handle because I 'm not happy with how badly it split on top. It's a hybrid between brut de forge and a 400 grit belt finish, in other words there wouldn't be anything left if I tried to remove all of the hammer marks.

Yeah, it's a tomahawk. Weighs a ton for its diminutive size.

Hammer marks or not, that's a cool looking piece!

That's a darn big knife.  I've always though the kukri style knives just look mean.  Nice tomahawk too.  Wish I could find time to make such things.
