Is this a good deal? (Springfield A-1 Loaded 1911 $799 with modifications)

I'm looking to get my first 1911, (everything else I own is 9mm polymer), and my favorite LGS has a great condition used Springfield Armory A-1 Loaded (http://springfield-armory.com/armory.php?version=4) with the following modifications:

 

1. Wilson Combat guide rod.

 

2. Hogue rubber grips (unsure of exact model but they are very grippy and fit my hand really well--slightly indented where the fingers go).

 

3. Trigger job. The owner handed it to me and told me to dry fire it, and I was surprised by the hair trigger--barely any pressure required to fire. I don't know who did the trigger job.

 

LGS wants $799. The gun seems to be in great shape, and it seems like a good deal, but I'd like a second (and third, fourth etc.) opinion, seeing as I have no experience purchasing/appraising a 1911.

Thats not a bad price. 800 is usually top dollar for a used 1911 loaded that I have saw. I would definitely try to talk them down if possible though. Depending on condition cosmetically 800 out the door would probably be the absolute top I would personally pay.

Thanks for the advice! Is your $800 out the door factoring in the modifications made? I know the guide rod and grips probably amount to no more than about $50 or so, but am unsure what the trigger job is worth. It's definitely an interesting trigger--barely any pull required, a true hair trigger. (Which probably means it'll be mostly a range gun or perhaps for competition if I ever get into that.)

Trigger job really does nothing to increase value when it gets down too it, neither do grips or a guiderod. If you put all kinds of fancy stuff on a hi point, you still have a 150 dollar gun

Unless of course its lazer grips, that will add a little value since they are 200 or 300 bucks. whatever those useless things are going for now lol

I would pay $750.00 - $775.00 out the door.

That would be top dollar for me. The add on's are no big deal.

I bought a Springfield Range Officer brand new for 750..

He also had MilSpecs for mid 600s

Why pay more for used?

 

Find a dealer that has Teir one pricing

I'd try and get it lower, the trigger job is nice.

Personally the first thing I would do is ditch the FLGR and go back to a GI guide and plug.

Second is ditch the grips.

 

So I'd be thing of what additional it would cost me to put it right.

It does have a Wilson Combat guide rod and nice rubberized hogue grips.
