That Obama thing's a real beech...call from a family member

Just got a call from a close family member. Highly upset. He is a Conservative. Said he went to work this morning and they handed him a letter. With hours he just took an $895 pay cut across the month. That negated 2/3rds of his wifes pay. His wife is highly upset. On top of that, if he wants to keep his insurance it will be raised by at least $100 per month on October 1, maybe 300 he doesn't know yet. So make that a $1000 to possibly $1200 pay cut.

WIth a wife and 3 kids he informed me that he just went from a halfway decent standard of living directly into survival mode. He is selling both of his cars and downsizing to one small car. (They drive two large sedans and will no longer be able to afford gas). Family trips are out and the Travel Trailer he was getting ready to buy, he will not be buying it. WIth the cost of groceries going up he is wondering if he might not be able to feed his family.

Says he is nervous, looks like Obama is taking the Country apart piece by piece and no one is stopping him. Says he thinks riots are coming, probably strikes, worried whats going to happen. Concerned about his family.

Here's the thing. The wife is a Liberal Progressive, voted for the current President, TWICE. Well, she WAS a liberal progressive until about 4 hours ago. I have talked to that woman until I was blue in the face and she just didnt get it. Now she gets it. Thats what its going to take. It's going to have to hurt, before these people wake up. Told him to calm down, 13 more months and we can put an end to it by clearing out Congress. Both the House and the Senate. He said he will make it but the wife is upset and crying. He will make it, always has. He knows its going to hurt, feel bad for him, but what are you going to do? I know what WE can do. Get everyone to vote. At least everyone that doesn't have a complete BS excuse.

Well he is the third family member in less than a month who called me with bad news.

Everybody learns lessons a bit differently but all the ways generally fall into one of two categories; the easy way or the hard way.

A girl I went o HS with became a pretty successful entertainer and has made it her career. She lives in LA and has for most of the past 40 years....she is black, very beautiful (well, age has caught up with her just like the rest of us ;) ) and she was always very "liberal" as far as politics goes.  But, she told me a number of years ago that she changed her politics once she started handling her own business finances; that was a pretty easy lesson overall but the point is, until she really experienced how liberal policies affected her personally; it didn't click.

I'm sorry for your friend and his family...sadly, their best move personally would be for her not to work which then may make them eligible for more welfare (in the form of tax breaks/rebates, etc or even help paying for the wonderful Obamacare we'll have in just a few days).

Sorry to hear about the other family, I have talked to my boss as well about this.

He has told me we "should" be OK, but I to am worried.

All I can say is when that guy in the White House Promised Change he meant it and now the people that voted for him are seeing it. I hope they are happy with his change and I hope everyone that voted for change gets to experience it.  Thing is I kinda liked the way it was before his change but I guess I was in the minority huh?

It stinks to hear that. I hope they get by ok. I think the bigger problem is that this will not create an issue for enough on the fence people to change the voter base. They were already working to pay their way. Now they have to work more and do with less. I am afraid there are still too many who think they deserve the handouts to change things drastically. Plus, add in that millions of women will vote for Hillary just because she is a woman and it gets worse. I hope I am wrong, but if I was to bet on it, I would be hard pressed to put much money on the Republicans the way they are now.

People still don't see the reality of the transforming America and probably never will. Even when the nation goes over the cliff, they still will not understand. You just can't fix stupid. Edited by ThePunisher

When your car is getting ready to go over a cliff do you: - Bailing out is NOT an option....

1)  Hit the brakes

2)  Floor it and hope it can fly

The car is our country and the OHOLE is picking number 2

that was the same type of news my wifes company gave all the part timers. Part time for her company was anything under 38hours. Now due to the new healthcare rules the cut all part timers to 25 hours. my wife just had to hire 13 new employees to help keep all part timers at 15hours. He did create more jobs just like he promised but now you have to work 2 jobs for the same hours.

Pull the emergency brake and spin the steering wheel.  Turn right around from where you where going.

That is the best course of action.

That sucks, I can't even imagine having a cut like that.
Our corporate office has been sending out emails about insurance open enrollment starting soon and how the law changes will affect us. From the initial information, the shitty corporate insurance cost out of my pocket is going to double.
Lots of people are going to be making some hard decisions over the next several months.

We can hope that more people see the light before the next couple of election cycles.  We need for working class people to see that everything they have worked for is going towards paying for BigBrother.  It costs a bunch to have BigBrother run your entire life and take care of everything.

Maybe I missed it, but how exactly was Obama the direct cause of this? Don't mistake this for me defending the POS in the white house but I'm just not sure how we can blame him for every lay off or pay cut that occurs.

And I didn't think Obamacare has really gone into effect yet has it?

Issues with Obamacare have been going on for months every day. Employer's have been cutting employees hours left and right to keep from having to pay extremely high insurance rates for implementation. One national company that another family member works for cut every employee except corporate staff, truck drivers and two other positions back to 30 hours per week. Walmart, the second largest employer in the country has barely hired a permanent position since may. Where normal temp employees are 1% it is now 12%. I could continue this post for another 100 paragraphs but I think most of it has been covered. Might want to do a search.

  1. People all over are getting notices that their health insurance rates are going up significantly to comply with ObamaCare.
  2. Employers are not hiring new people until they see exactly what these changes are going to cost them as a % of wages.
  3. Employers are cutting all the people they can to under 30 hours per week so they are not considered full time and therefore qualify for mandatory insurance.  Many employers have turned one full-time position into two part-time positions to cut these costs.
  4. Small businesses are doing everything they can to keep employees under the 50 employee limits so that they don't have to provide this mandatory insurance or pay a penalty/tax.

The economy is not strong enough for companies to absorb the increase in insurance costs.  Insurance costs are going up because Obamacare forces the insurance companies to insure anyone at anytime.  So you can get diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and go sign up for insurance.  The insurance companies have to be able to spread this extra risk around and they do it through increased premiums and deductibles.  In addition, the government will be giving subsidies to the poor folk that cannot afford to purchase insurance.  This is money earned by someone in the 53% of workers that actually pay federal income tax and given to a parasitic citizen (one that lives off another life form).

The "navigators" are being hired to help citizens sign up, but the navigators are being hired through unions and the many community organizing (read: liberal) advocacy groups.  Millions of dollars has already been given to these socialist organizations.  You can bet there will be Spanish language navigators to assist the illegal immigrants sign up.  The sucking sound of money, both at the Federal Government level and at the local worker level is deafening.

And TankerHC, I'm an old M60A3 guy.  You?

No, it hasn't.  These actions by employers are in anticipation of the Obamacare regs kicking in 10/1/13.
