The Post Office is really making me unhappy.

Crimeny what a rigamarole.

Got a house in TN 6 months ago. In accordance with the regs sent the FFL back for an address change.

In the meantime, the original house was temporary and the house we were waiting on came open. Called ATF to see the requirements. Told to just send it back for another correction.

The first address correction replacement FFL was sent out a week after they got it, which was the next day because I overnighted it.

2 months go by, I am at the PO daily or nearly every day trying to find it. I had done the proper forwarding change. Told every day it was going to be here "tomorrow", told by the mail carrier they know who I am and will get it to me should be here any day, told by the Post Master 4 times it "should" be here tomorrow because forwarding it has to be here and there and everywhere, even though I moved 1/4 mile. All this time I am calling ATF every other day to keep them informed as they told me to do. Finally told by the PO "its probably stuck in a conveyer in Chattanooga, lost".

Call ATF and explain the entire situation over again. (This is nearly 2 months after initial re-issue), instructed to just write a letter, explain the situation and request a replacement with the proper address. Went to the PO and overnighted the letter the same day. This was back around the 5th of July give or take a day or two.

As of today no FFL. Call ATF to find out what the status is. They mailed it out on August 7th. STILL didnt get it. Can only assume it is lost again. I have checked and double checked the mail daily. It never made it to me, and they mailed it to the correct address with the address correction.

ATF is re-issuing the license and it will go out in the mail tomorrow. Wonder if this one will be lost as well?

Post Office has been returning business mail that I have been sending out regularly in the past year.

Maybe 25% of the letters I send get returned as "Can Not Be Delivered As Addressed".

I've been sending letters to these addresses for years with no issues...

I spoke with the local postmaster and he told me they were being marked that way at the main Donelson TN post office and he couldn't do anything to help. he also checked the addresses and told me they were fine.

I think it may be a cost saving measure. Dump 25% of the mail and you save on delivery fees.

They are the most incompetent, inefficient carrier out there. I never have any issues unless it involves USPS but you would think it would be the other way around seeing as how they have 8 employees for every one mans worth of work (came from the mouth of a USPS employee)

Earlier this year a friend in China sent me a package with some of the usual tourist junk in it - keychains, T-shirts, shot glasses (I've got quite a collection of shot glasses from this guy) and a tea set for my wife.

I got the notice on a Thursday that the package was delivered and waiting at the post office.  I went on Friday and they couldn't find it - there was no tracking number on the notice that I got on my door, so they couldn't look it up and they said there was nothing in the computer about a package.  They said they'd try delivery again on Monday, and would include a tracking number on the slip.  A week later, still no new slip on the door.

Finally called and talked to the post master - it had been sent back to china the day they tried to deliver it because the guy in the delivery truck had actually been holding onto it without even trying to deliver for over a week.  They admitted this over the phone and in person - he'd had it a week, so they sent it back.  They called this a "goof up" and tried to make it out like it was no big deal.  That was about 4 months ago.  Friend in China isn't anymore - he's back home in the US - and the last time anyone was able to tell me where the package was, it stuck in Customs getting back through.  They're saying it'll probably not make it through Customs because of the tea samples in the tea set, and since they can't "return to sender" since the sender is in China, they'll probably hold the package for a while then destroy it (per what the person on the phone told me).

I ship Fedex or UPS now exclusively.

Man, and I thought I'd had some raw deals with them! The main problem is they don't have to answer to anyone when they screw up. What if that had been an irreplaceable items such as something handed down in your family or some other item that you can't put a price on.. My sister lives in NYC but bought her wedding dress here and ended up flying down to get it herself (buddy passes) because she was scared to have it shipped. It shouldn't be that way but I guess if they were on the hook for everything folks would just make up some bs about what was in the package and what it's worth. Either way, USPS has some major efficiency and reliability issues to solve or they will never pull themselves out of the gutter.
