Normally I buy locally, but I couldn't pass up an online deal on a rifle......this is my first time doing a transfer....is there a waiting period on transfers to a local store....I contacted the store I am getting it transferred to but they said they have to put it in their system before I can pick it up....Is this normal?

They have to log the firearm into their books which doesn't take more that a few minutes but some dealers will make you wait a while until they get around to it.

I have bought several from GB through the years.  Usually its on the seller side, being slow to ship.  However, when received at my local FFL, usually same day service of receipt of the item and able to complete the transaction to take the item home.  Remember it has to do when the seller shipped the item, the time of day UPS delivers the item, and how promptly the FFL records the item in their books, makes the phone call to you and of course their hours of operations.

should not take them 15 minutes to process it into their books to transfer it to you.

The one time I bought online the LGS I dealt with called to tell they had it and to come and get it.  took about three days from when I ordered to when I put it in my hands.
