Surprise at Dick's yesterday

I don't usually go there, but yesterday we were out and about when my wife and kids decided we needed to stop a Dick's for some reason. My oldest son and I wandered back to the gun cabinet, and as he's outgrown his 870 Remington youth model, we were looking at shotguns. I had the sales clerk show us both a 20 and 12 gauge 870 pump with adult size stocks.

I wasn't planning to buy one that day, but I noticed a sale sign that said "$269", and I thought that seemed pretty cheap. Then I noticed another sign that said "$20 off all guns between $199-$499". Hey, that's $249! It'll be hard to beat that price.

Just then, another customer who was buying an 870 as well asked me if I knew about the Remington $30 rebate on them. Man, that's $219!!!!

I bought a 20 gauge for my son, and sort of regret now I didn't buy a 12 for myself. Sometimes a blind squirrel finds a nut.

Squirrel man?

Sorry, my attempt at humor.   You closed your original post by saying "sometimes a blind squirrel finds a nut".

So was the surprise at Dick's finding a decent price on something, or finding someone who knew how to work the gun counter?

The price was what surprised me. My wife commented that they must have named the store in honor of the guy working the gun counter.

I feel the exact same way at Dunhams, ye olde mop jockeys freshly hired on from elsewhere...

Wow! Congrats on finding such a bargain. When a good gun can be bought at a good price... that's a win - win situation. I know your son will enjoy it. It's a shame you didn't take advantage of the deal for a 12 gauge for yourself.

That is a fantastic price. I rarely go there because they are so high on everything. Wish we had an Academy in Orlando but even their gun prices seem to have increased.

After reading this I took a look and both rebates were still good plus a 100 dollar rebate on the versamax. Im in Dicks right now. And I have been standing in Dicks and asking and waiting for half an hour. Since I have been here 4 people have come up, stood around and left. One gun counter guy has come up to the counter for about 60 seconds to grab the guy before me 4473 and didn't even acknowledge the other 4 customers standing here. Aint seen him since and that was almost 15 minutes ago. I said I was never buying anything here again after their actions earlier this year and lousy sporting goods service. This seals it. Dont care if they start selling Windham ARs for 5 dollars. Last time I set foot in any Dicks. Headed out the door to Academy. At least they take their gun counter seriously. Sos at Dicks. Doesn't matter which store in which state. Lousy gun counter service must be corporate policy. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 2 Edited by TankerHC

Yeah I applied to Dunhams and was told I was over qualified to work in the gun department...
