POTUS's Opinions and my facebook post...

Recommended Posts

I generally give everyone a wide berth, and I don't like to judge, period.  ... Still, I couldn't help but notice this gigantic slip.

This is my post:

Ok.. I am sadly wary of anyone's role as "consoler-in-chief" when the consoling appears to be a political-agenda slam session. Is this truly an appropriate way to memorialize and honor those wonderful souls who were lost? Wouldn't a good first step be to speak of them and the legacy they leave... forsaking one's own agenda?

Also - below is a quote. If it is accurate, it appears that Mr. President views the Bill of Rights as merely a collection of traditions.

"I do not accept that we cannot find a common-sense way to preserve our traditions, including our basic Second Amendment freedoms and the rights of law-abiding gun owners while at the same time reducing the gun violence that unleashes so much mayhem on a regular basis," Obama said. "It may not happen tomorrow and it may not happen this week, it may not happen next month. But it will happen because it is the change that we need. And it's a change overwhelmingly supported by the majority of Americans."
- President Obama (as reported by wkrn)

Do you want to make a difference Mr. President? Well, here you go:
1) Help agencies be more accountable for the way they process information - and how they handle threats. ie. enforce the laws we have. As we have seen in many of these public acts of violence with mass casualties, there were many warning signs, often visible signs of mental illness, and possibly prescriptions for psychotropic drugs. There have also frequently been associations with violent, 1st person-shooter video games. We can certainly address these possible root causes.

2) While you are "obsessed" about stopping mass shootings, lets do some real good. I will join you in pleading for the media to stop making these folks famous - to voluntarily bury their names and their stories. People who act out violently in this way should immediately cease to exist. This is a progressive, humane, and incredibly brave act that media executives can demand of their teams. Those media outlets who choose to continue to glorify these criminals can and should be cast out by advertizers and viewers. If you really want to curb mass acts of public violence, start here.

3) Stop selling the country on the false pretense that a "gun free zone", where an assailant knows they will not be reasonably opposed, is the right idea for all of America. The Navy yard was a gun free zone inside another gun free zone (Washington, D.C.). Even so, it had armed security. It should've been doubly safe,. ..but again, we see that those intent on criminal harm do not obey the rule of law... what results is that law abiding husbands, fathers, brothers, mothers, daughters, and sisters are caught defensless in their time of greatest need.

I want to see change as well as you. I want to reduce human-on-human violence as much as possible. I, and many like me, are willing to help. Lets get real, and lets make a difference by finding and addressing the root causes of workplace & public violence - not by undermining the foundation of our democracy. Real solutions may span more than one president's term, but the end goal of a more peaceful and free society is worth it. Our childrens' future is worth it. We can preserve our freedoms and bring about actual, sustainable reductions in public violence in the United States. Let's talk.

Please share if you would like Mr. President to read this.

The good news... he's cooking his own goose, and taking a bunch of his libtard friends along for the ride. His ego is letting him make a huge mistake with the gun control tirade. The polls don't support it, but he keeps going. Let him say all the stupid #### he can muster. If there's ever gonna be another purge like '94, he's doing exactly what I want him to do.

BTW... there's no question in the minds of my 400+ facebook friends where I stand, and a whole lot of them are Libs.

In my opinion, common sense people know the concept of self defense. They understand that the police can't be everywhere. They know that almost all criminals are illegally armed and dangerous. I think with the vast number of people that recently joined the ranks of gun ownership, that a large part of these are also part of the common sense American group. Colorado is a prime example. I remember reading several months ago an article that said gun sales in Colorado were at an all time high and many buyers were first time gun purchasers. Now, as we all know two senators were fired from their jobs by these same people. This also highlights the lack of common sense of any politician with a "D" beside their name. Today I read that W. Virginia Senator Manchin has remained silent even after the shootings at the navel yard. He was a huge gun control voice just a few months ago. He also knows that his constituents are strong gun supporters. I think maybe the Co. Recall sent a message to at least this one senator and hopefully others too.

They will only be silent for a short period of time until they can make use of another crisis to their benefit.Their ideology will never allow them to let a good crisis to go to waste and be silent on gun control. We have to remain vigilant at all times with these commies, something that we've not done a good job of the last twenty years.

The main problem with "gun control" laws is that they are about control, not guns.  There are already plenty of laws on the books that address killing/maiming/injuring/attacking another person or persons.  Laws for murder (homicide), assault and battery, etc. currently exist, regardless of the method or weapon used.  Heck, there are laws that address the intent of the killer (manslaughter).  If the weapons used were so important, then why do we not have knife control laws, hammer control laws, poison control laws, and hands/feet control laws?

Violent video games, like guns,  cause no problems at all in 99.99999% of users.   Once in a while a nut gets his hands on one or both.  This is not the fault of the video game any more than it is the gun -- it is a problem with a very small # of people who have a mental illness that causes them to be unable to seperate fantasy and reality.

Also, I would add one more paragraph about the millions killed one by one in our ghettos, and point out that 10 here and 20 there once a year are not significant when compared to 50+ per day in major crime zones like LA or Chicago or other massive ghettos.     Its not rocket science --- we know where the bulk of the crime happens (select major cities for most of it).  We know what the suspects are likely to look like (male, usually minority, usually gang tattoos or "uniform" markings, usually in specific areas of the cities, etc).  Go get em.

Manchin is on a balance beam, most of the time. He has to worry about coal and electricity rates. He isn't the anti-gun

guy, either. He is one of the huys in the Senate who has to be moved to left on that issue, from time to time. I think it's

because he knows his constituents would tar and feather him if he went too far to the left.

Now, without the issue being so polarized, and no one paying attention, I think he would march to liberal drum and bugle

corp, but he has many watching him, even in WV. Remember Obamacare? He was very concerned what his vote would

do and was one who had to be bribed.

But it's those kind of politicians who need to be replaced, anyway. I admire his state's interest, but not his lack of character.

Manchin, like Corker have five more years in the Senate before re-election. He's going to toe the line of the left while talking out the right side of his mouth to try to appease his low information constituents. At this point in our nation I believe any and all Dumacrats will fall on the sword for their commie cause to fundamentally transform America. They all toe the line or they're out with the party. Now we are seeing the rhinos toeing the line with the democrats for no other reason that they also believe in fundamentally transforming America.

Has anyone been really looking at the shooting in the Navy Boat Yard and what the reaction or lack of that came from it. Yea the winch in California jumped up but sat right back down quick. Obama said what a shame it was and he felt sorry for the families of the ones killed and injured. That was about all that came of that. It seems it was almost played down and unimportant. Maybe it was not as important as the others for a few reasons. 1st it was a shotgun and not an AR. 2nd it was not  children killed but men and women close to their retirement age which in turn will save the Feds paying out any pensions. 3rd the shooter was crazy and black, not crazy and white. I guess a crazy black mass murderer doesn't deserve the news that a young white man would. 4th There were so many mistakes made by the Feds on so many levels they would have paper work at many levels. This guy had more red flags waving than anyone since Ft Hood shooter and that one is also being kept low key. I guess the administration thinks out of sight out of mind but it don't work that way. They are trying to find other ways out of the fact that the Navy yard shooter was their fault because their own back ground check failed. They keep screaming they want back ground checks on every body yet that guy was not only flying through the state level  background checks but flying through the Federal ones too. They dropped the ball and it cost a lot of people their lives and now they are trying to hide from it..........jmho

I totally agree with "almost" everything you have said. The only exception I take is the reporting or tracking of mental health medications. Government is trying to force thier way into our private lives enough.
