Heritage & Marksmanship

Project Appleseed is a nationwide program that teaches rifle marksmanship skills that have been passed down from generation to generation and reconnects Americans with the people and events of colonial America. Participants are taught skills that allow a Rifleman to be accurate out to 500 yards using a standard rifle with iron sights and surplus ammunition. This ability is traditionally known as mastering the “Rifleman's Quarter Mile” and is an American tradition that
has been part of this nation from its very first days. So join us and hear some little-known Revolutionary War history, reaffirm your heritage, and make America a better place.

Never attended Appleseed but I love the Watauga Gun Club range in Boone. I spent many hours there shooting with my kids while they were in school at App State. Beautiful setting and I love the little stream that rushes thru the property.

I was attracted to the stream as well! Supposedly filled with trout. Absolutely beautiful scenery there. Appleseed is an excellent program that teaches great fundamentals to new or experienced shooters. The AQT or Army Qualification Test that is administered, can be challenging. Hope you can attend!
