I recently had a friend stiple one of my G19s. I told him to leave the fingegrooves on (most people have them removed).

Thought I'd share some pics.

Looks like your Glock caught a venereal disease. :D

The best non-professional stipple I've seen comes from a guy over on Glocktalk... military guy that did his in his off-time. Looks very nice. Here's his handy-work:

Obviously, he also relief-cut the grip for better magazine removal... and also matched the pattern on the grip by performing the same stippling job on the mags themselves. Very nice job, IMO.

I really liked the guys work above, but as I said he isn't doing the work professionally or selling his services. Just something he did to his own Glock in his spare time.

That said, the best place that does do them professionally... that matches the above stipple pattern... is Boresight Solutions, LLC. I've debated whether or not to have mine stippled, and have come to the conclusion that I'll be sending mine off to them shortly. I want the receiver to be less slippery than it is, when I'm sweating, but still want it to look "factory" or professional. Boresight wins hands down, from the literally hundreds of stipple jobs that I've waded through trying to find the right one.

Here is an example of their work. More photos can be viewed in the gallery on their website:

No, it's not beautiful (it does look like a rash), but it feels great (zero trigger time yet).

My Glocks are hard-use tools, so I'm not too concerned with looks. One negative about most polymer handguns is that they get slippery when hands are wet/sweaty.

This seems to have just the right amount of "grippiness" without being too crazy.

Edited: This Glock has a new nickname...The Rash

Did you at least wear protection? :D

Yep... that's why I started looking into the "how to" and pro-jobs out there. Haven't owned my G23 very long, but can already see it getting pretty slippery if you're shooting for very long on a hot day... or involved in a class that has you running all over the place. Boresight just seems to be the best option for my tastes, as well as quality of job they do. Like you said... the gun is just a tool, but Glocks are ugly enough as-is. I'll let a pro do mine.

More like "Herpules" :D

The pictures posted by Verbal Kint are pretty nice. I'm still trying to find someone local who can do this type of stipple job. I think they call it "Tree Bark". IMHO, it's the very best looking I've seen. I'm looking to have this done to my XD.

Yep, you're correct... it is most commonly referred to as "Tree Bark". And it's one of the more common 'stipple jobs' out there. Not sure of anyone in the TN area that does it. I'm sure someone, somewhere, in the state does it... but never come across any while doing my searches... and wouldn't be able to speak on the quality of their work if they did.

Just search around... or ask over on Glocktalk. However, a lot of pro shops actually have a decent turn-around time on this kind of work. You'd be surprised. Might be worth sending it out of state.

Why not try to do it yourself? Doesn't look all that hard - a sharpened point on a soldering iron for the standard stipple, more of a wire or knife point on one to do the tree bark.

Oh, and a steady hand and some patience.

Too bad I don't have any guns I want to ruin or I'd try it and post up my results.

LOL. Hard enough to maybe ruin a gun?

I really need to draw myself up a sarcasm emoticon...

But seriously - if you have some similar plastic to the grip material, don't be afraid to give it a try.

LOL...me too.

Or you could have bought a USP that pretty much has the roughest\rashiest grip than any manufacturer out there.

And they don't get slippery just as they come from the factory.

Dang! Those 'stipling" jobs are butt ugly!!! IMO that is.

The first thing I do to a new Glock is put a Hogue Gripsleeve on. They feel great, give excellent "traction", and look good too.

Do you guys not like the Gripsleeves? If not, why?

On a Glock? No.

The factory grip, for me, on a Glock is already a little too big. Then again, I'm use to a 1911 grip. So if you go and add a Hogue Handall to the already large grip it just amplifies the problem.

When I send my G23 out to Ben, at Boresight, in the next few days I'll be getting a reduction job as well as stippling. He'll shave off the rear "hump", reduce the grip down 360-degrees, and then add the stippling and a few other requests. This will also help the Glock mimic the 1911 ergos, and get me on target faster.

YMMV.

Ok, I can see the problem with someone that has smaller hands. I'm tall and I have fairly big hands.....the Glock grips with the Hogue Handall fit me perfectly.

Verbal, I'd like to see your Glock when you get it back.....you'll have to post some pics for us.

*shrugs*

Buy a USP?

Dont have to add parts to make it better, dont have to have it "stippled" cause... well it already is to the point of where it'll give you a rash, etc etc etc. Not try to start a flame war or anything.

Its just... perfect?
