House plans to vote on de-funding obamacare

Recommended Posts

Man I am watching Hannity right now the Democrats are screaming Fowl because the house has finally decided to let Teaparty Freshman Congress men and women vote on the budget and the Affordable Care Act. They are planning to vote for funding the Government and de-funding Obama care in one vote. This is going to get really ugly for sure because the House is going to be rocking and rolling..........All I can say is Obama should have read it before he signed it.............jmho

It wasn't on a teleprompter.

I just don't get it. How many of you have read the "Obamacare" bill, and how many of you are knee-jerking based off of what Fox "News" and others tells you? Become self informed and stop depending on others to tell you how to think.

In my opinion, and I've read the entire bill myself, the healthcare act lowers cost of service and the federal deficit both over the next 6 years while upgrading the US to the same standard of care as the rest of the civilized world. The only other thing I could ask of it is to eliminate federal subsidizing of lazy people who can't bother to look beyond media hype and their own pocketbooks. But we all know that will never happen. Mostly because it's in the current government's best interest to support ignorance rather than intelligence and society seems happy to support that ideal.

Haha. Nice one. Did we ever get an answer as to which forum to post jokes to?

You sure are an ornery dude 6.8. I thought OhShoot was bad.

What I meant is that the world isn't going to end like the media is suggesting. I personally think it would be a good thing.

Well, if you're comparing the world coming to an end like a Mad Max movie, which is a Hell of a lot of thought, Erik,

try continuing the elevated costs until there is no money left. Your premiums will never catch up to the cost of whatever

services the government asses decide to provide you.

Not too sure about the "ornery", but I have been called "irreverent". :D I'll happily wear that badge.

Regardless of how, the ACA will fail. One by bringing on an economic collapse, or two by bringing on an economic

collapse. What kind of an economic collapse do you wish for? There isn't enough money circulating, or printable,

that can fund this scam. Unless you like the old Soviet style of doing everything. Did you ever read Atlas Shrugged?

This is George Bernard Shaw telling it the way a socialist thinks. The so-called "Death Panel" is what he

is describing. If it is something else, please tell me. They are the same thing.

Hell, he even makes the case why we should get rid of the IRS, also. That idea came from Communist

Manifesto, in case you didn't know. Shaw was a communist, BTW.

AR, as you are aware, this "law" was designed to fail.  Obamacare is just another ingredient in the crap sandwich we know to be "the fundamental transformation of America."

Interesting post. Thanks for the linky.
Unfortunately, the IRS is here to stay in some shape, form or fashion. There are only a handful of countries that do not levy an income tax and they are mainly in the Middle East where the income is derived from oil and a couple in the Caribbean where income is generated from the enormous amount of money that is hidden there to escape taxes.

The Communist Manifesto must have been a big hit back then because principles regarding education, transportation, banking, agriculture, manufacturing, and land confiscation (imminent domain) have been used by the vast majority of the countries in the free world today.

For years upon years, people have been screaming and yelling that the the sky will fall because of the implementation of some policy, passing of some law, or election of a President. When I woke up this morning the sky was still there, my balance sheets looked great, and my guns were still oiled and ready to rock. The USA is the greatest place on the face of earth and it's shameful that the rest of the world thinks we are a bunch of fat, lazy, consumption whores and you know what, to a certain degree they are right. Off soapbox now...

Don't use mythical again unless you have more than Wiki to back up your statement, okay? :D

The frontloading was by design to start the process and make it look like it would meet a goal for a year or two, which it

can't because they can't even get the pools working with the money they have, at present. That's not a business tactic.

That is a tactic brought on by government intrusion by the use of the IRS mandating the way entities operate. Might as

well say it is another government roadblock.

As far as people or companies gaming the system, you work within an imposed system. You can't pass blame onto the

companies when it was the bill itself that made the rules. In other words, I will do what I must to survive.

The slam on Fox in that case, I will concede to how you answered it. I don't blindly follow anyone in the news. If you haven't, you might peruse many of my posts. You might see it.

No, there are no flaws in the ACA, there are only designs to destroy our country by bankrupting it, and increasing unemployment, reducing the number of people paying in to a system, and allowing more into the system, at the same time. Now, tell me how a sane person could agree with such a bill? One that is top heavy in management(bureacrats in DC), top heavy in bums(all the welfare cost shifting and illegals who are more likely to be included in the system) and less doctors in the profession, due to the diminishing dollars in the system.

There is absolutely nothing good about the ACA, if you can describe anything coming out of DC as good or bad.

And don't assume all political talking points are wrong. Most of the time they are right, except for the tripe coming

from places like Media Matters and Moveon.org. Usually a crap kind of talking point is easy to spot.

I had to, sorry. It is healthcare being provided to people who won't, and never will, pay a dime into it. Those are the ones

who will overburden the system and force the rest, who are forced to pay into it, to accept whatever the panel decides.

It is welfare and wealth redistribution, nothing else. Anything being provided to someone not paying into the system, I have

a problem with. I have been paying for my insurance all of my life, sometimes as a benefit, others not, and as far as I'm

concerned, starting with the Hill-Burton Act of 1947, that makes anyone, whether with money or not, accessible to the ER

services. That means someone else started back in 1947 to pay for other people's services, and has gone downhill, ever

since.

This bill was but one of the liberal's wet dreams of legislation that takes from me and gives to thee. It is the largest one on

record and is unsustainable.

I guess now that businesses see it for what it is, we are to blame businesses? You better be blaming Democrats and push

as hard as you can to get it de-funded permanently.

I have yet to hear a valid argument for socialism, of any kind, and if you think there is some good in this bill, remember its

premise before you argue it. It is not designed to fix anything in the health care system.

More than just wiki, huh? I'm guessing you didn't even look at the article. 131 sources linked. Rather than just post them back up here, I'll give you a few that aren't in there. So, I tell you what. You cite the section and paragraph of ACA where the mythical death panels reside. I can't in order to prove you wrong, becuase it isn't in there.

As for all the rest of your statements. I respect your opinion. You seem more researched than most. I still don't see any evidence - not even wiki - to back up the bulk of your statements. I am pretty amused that you defend Fox but bash Media Matters... Care to share why?

I know several (5) doctors that have their own practice. One plans to operate a private pay only practice by end of the year, one plans to close up shop and retire early BECAUSE OF obamacare, the other three tell me we're screwed. Quote biased sources like NewYorkTimes, etc, but the reality is obabacare is BAD. VERY BAD. it saddles hard working Americans and employers with a huge and unsustainable financial burden. The so-called "Dealth Panels" are enevitable because there won't be enough to go around. At some point the puppet master will determine which puppets get the care. Some of the things that these doctors tell me scares the crap out of me. The "Death Panels" or what ever you want to call it (Rationing, High Level of Rejection for Seniors, Waiting List) will be a reality if obamacare is fully implemented. It really stinks that we're gonna hand this junk to our kids and grandkids.

I'll be glad to.

When you end up rationing health care services, like is happening in England and Canada, and any other country that

has nationalized health care, what happens when people end up off a list, or have to wait until after their medical procedure

might have saved their lives? I think you can refer any panel that rations out service, which is unheard of, right now, a

Death Panel. Do I really need to cite the text in the bill? The ACA forms a panel tha does exactly that: rations services.

Someone on a panel gets to decide whether or not you get a particular medical service. What is it based on? What

kind of problems can crop up with such schemes. Do you really believe this couldn't be a death panel when the government has been doing the same thing in other types of service everytime it runs out of money?

They die, due to all this. That is commonly referred to as a Death Panel.

Is someone naive enough to think the healthcare system will avoid this? And I didn't even come close to the political tool

this could be. I hate to say it, but you can cite all the links you want, but none of those links do anything to make a death

panel go away. Keep on believing the media, including FOX. You might see through this, eventually. Ever heard of that

thing called consequences? This time it is intended.

I am just a typer on a forum, not very scholarly, like some, but my eyes are open. I've been saying this way before that

bill passed. Just the partisanship that got it passed is enough to see what the end result will be. If you actually read it,

and I believe you, go read the Internal Revenue Code and give a report on how well that works.

If all you need is a link to make something fact, then you ain't much of a thinker.

Folks. You can find, literally any kind of link to support any kind of view you wish to support: good or bad. Whatever

topic one wishes to discuss, l submit, in your daily perusal of the internet, you can go to Snopes, or the NYT, or

HuffPO, and dig all the crap you wish, to support your view. Does it make it real? Not even close.

Media Matters is a political arm of socialists. John Podesta. Ever heard of him? Do you know the mission of that group?

To get democrats, especially socialist elected to office. Ever heard of George Soros? He funds them. He is a criminal,

on top of being a billionaire. Ever heard of Van Jones? Some have. He's a self avowed communist, and once held a

position in this administration. How many more do I need to mention? Want some more?

It was thrown out there, more than once, that this scheme of health care was contrived by a man in prison, who happened

to be a commie waiting to get free. It ended up in the Speaker's office waiting for the right time to be brought out and

voted on, since Hillary Care failed. I don't know whether or not that is true or false, but I do know it was reported. I made

my mind up on this health care scam of a bill due to its invasion of privacy and restrictions on how one can be punished

like a dog for their behavior. Who the Hell has that right? Did we give this right of freedom of medical commerce up when

we forgot the Constitution? When we allowed people like Chuck Shumer articulate too many times about the Commerce

Clause, and get away with it, we lost that battle forever.

There are things like unintended consequences that happen every day because of good people(the American Citizen)

who refuse to look and compare what happens to what they rationalize away. It's your country. If you don't give a damn,

that's one thing, but you had better be ready to suffer the consequences of your lack of action.

So Div, if you want links, go find them on your own. I do my homework. I've lived for 58 years watching this country go

down the crapper without having to find some link to make you feel happy. Especially some link that is politically charged

like Media Matters. Maybe I'm just too lazy to play games on the internet. Nah, I'm just an old fool. I quit doing book reports, or papers for grades, years ago. Forums are for opinions. You've seen mine. Refute them honestly, if you can.

Read your Constitution and you will find enough verbage in it to realize the ACA is unconstitutional, in spite of a narrow

Supreme Court ruling about tax status.

I agree with you 100% but it won't make any difference because the damage they did will already be done. You note that they exempted all of them from the ACA because they know is is a train wreck. Is there any hope? Only what is going on right now and if the people will do what is necessary to prevent the train wreck they don't have much time so don't wait til tomorrow. Porker and Loser are RINO's, nuff said.

All of the pricks in WA have phone numbers starting with 202. Put them in your phone and they'll be easy to bring up anytime.

Porker - 202-244-3344

Loser - 202-224-4944

McRino - 202-224-2235

Mitch McConnell - 202-224-2541

And give Beohner an atta-boy - 202-225-6205 he has been the only one whose mailbox isn't full but occasionally you can get an intern at Porker's or Loser's office.

Loser's form letter;

Thanks very much for getting in touch with me and letting me know what’s on your mind regarding defunding the health care law.

The President’s health care law was an historic mistake because it expanded and made even more expensive a health care delivery system that costs too much and restricts peoples’ choices. It must be dismantled and repealed.  I fought strongly against when it was proposed and when the president and Democrats forced it through Congress, I voted against it the first time, and I’ve been working to dismantle and repeal the law ever since – including voting 23 times on the Senate floor to repeal, defund, delay, or otherwise stop the law from being implemented.  You can review my efforts at my website: http://www.alexander.senate.gov/public/

I also appreciate the passion and enthusiasm of those who want to shut down the government to try to stop Obamacare in its tracks.  I’m mad about this law and about direction of our government too, but shutting down the government won’t result in Obamacare being defunded.
Unless there are 67 senate votes to override the President’s veto and shut down the army, the airlines and student aid, Obamacare just keeps going because it is funded mainly by automatic, mandatory spending.  I want to change the direction of our country and our government by fixing the debt and getting rid of Obamacare.

I appreciate your taking the time to let me know where you stand on this important issue.  I will be sure to keep your comments in mind as health care reform is discussed and debated in Washington and in Tennessee.

Sincerely,
Lamar

Porker's form letter;

Thank you for taking the time to contact my office about defunding the health care reform law. Your input is important to me, and I appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts.

Like you, I am concerned about the negative effects this law will have on our state, our country and future generations. Health care costs have significantly increased since its passage, and studies show this trend will continue as the most harmful portions of the act become law in 2014. For example, the non-partisan Society of Actuaries projects individual insurance policies in Tennessee will be more than 40% higher next year than this year, and small businesses will face double-digit price increases for their plans. Further, the President stated many times that "if you like your insurance, you can keep it." Unfortunately, many citizens are discovering that this is just not the case. As families are trying to understand the new mandates and regulations, many are being forced to change their current insurance plan.

The Administration's decision to delay the employer mandate until 2015 finally acknowledges some of the many burdens this law places on American businesses, but it does not go far enough. Please see the attached letter I signed which lays out these concerns.

Unfortunately, legislation to defund the law wouldn't actually get rid of its harmful policies, but instead would delay implementation of a small portion of the bill while keeping most of the funding in place. Threating to shut down the government in this way is a totally ineffective strategy. As you know, I have consistently voted to fully repeal the law and continue to be very concerned about its effect on our economy.

Thank you again for your letter. I hope you will continue to share your thoughts with me.

Looks like the top republicans have screwed us.

Fellow Conservatives:

This is an urgent update on the fight to stop funding Obamacare.

Senators Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and John Cornyn (R-TX) -- the top two Republican leaders in the U.S. Senate -- announced yesterday that they will support "cloture" on the government funding bill, giving Harry Reid and the Democrats a procedural green light to fund Obamacare with only 50 votes.

Breitbart News is reporting that McConnell and Cornyn are using their leadership positions to pressure other Republicans to oppose Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Mike Lee (R-UT) in their effort to defund Obamacare.

According to a senior staffer quoted in the news report, "Nobody is fighting harder to make sure Obamacare is funded than Mitch McConnell and John Cornyn."

This is the ultimate betrayal.

TAKE ACTION: Tell Senate Republicans to Stand With Ted Cruz and Mike Lee, Not Mitch McConnell and John Cornyn

We knew Mitch McConnell and John Cornyn weren't with us when they voted to fund Obamacare earlier this year. But then, under pressure from grassroots, they said they supported the effort to defund it. They even ran political ads in their home states to make voters think they were on their side.

But now, faced with the prospect of having to fight for the things they claim to believe, these Senate leaders have surrendered.

Mitch McConnell and John Cornyn have surrendered to Barack Obama, Harry Reid, and the Democrats. More importantly, they have surrendered to Obamacare -- the biggest job killer in America.

MELT THE PHONES

We can't let these turncoats force millions of Americans into this liberal train wreck.

Obamacare is unaffordable, unworkable, and it's unfair.

Please contact the other Republican senators -- even if they aren't from your state -- and urge them to OPPOSE cloture so the Democrats can't fund Obamacare.

You can find the list of senators at DontFundObamacare.com along with their contact information and where they currently stand on this issue.

It's very important for you to call senators today and urge them to stand with Ted Cruz and Mike Lee in the fight to stop funding Obamacare.

Time is running out. Obamacare begins in just one week. We must act now.

This country belongs to us, not the politicians in Washington. Let's make sure they hear us loud and clear.

I want it defunded as much as anybody. But, if the effort fails AND we lose a bunch of seats in 2014, it will just go down in history as picking the wrong battle. It ain't just about Obamacare. It's gonna come down to polling. If they don't have enough support, and it blows up in their faces, we're gonna be stuck with Obamacare AND an "Assault" weapons ban.

If the majority of US citizens want it defunded, it's easy. If they don't, we could all wind up on granola rations, and driving a friggin' Prius.

Well, the majority seem to think the government in general is too big and powerful-- Gallup poll--

http://www.gallup.com/poll/164591/americans-belief-gov-powerful-record-level.aspx

Six in 10 Americans (60%) believe the federal government has too much power, one percentage point above the previous high recorded in September 2010. At least half of Americans since 2005 have said the government has too much power. Thirty-two percent now say the government has the right amount of power. Few say it has too little power.

Majority of independents since 2006. Majority of Republicans since 2008. Democrats, bless their pointy little heads, only thought gov was too powerful in the waning Bush years. But even 4 in 10 Democrats are coming around now.

How much did we lose in the 94 election? I may be off on the date, but Republicans held on, I think, and this new

style(RINO) of Republicans have just come to grips with being pawns of the media and apologists to the Democrats.

I don't care for the Republican Party if they are going to betray one of their own, to just be nice to the Democrats.

That's a poor excuse for character. Cornyn is a traitor to his own state and Mitch should be put out to pasture.

If those lame excuses for Republicans won't back Cruz, the political war is lost. ACA will kill this country.
