My jaw dropped when I saw three 1000 round boxes of .223 at the Oak Ridge Walmart today.

Guy in front of me brought 2 of them at 450 per box.

I didn't buy but thought about it.

not a .22 in the house.

Walmart in Smyrna has had these cases for a while now. They're not moving. I'm pretty sure they're 62gn, but didn't check if they were XM855 or not.

Do it. They are fine rifles and will serve you well as a club if need be.

But the Mosin does the club better! And cheaper! xD

... At least this was M855 5.56. ...

They call it that because it's 62 gr, but it's American Eagle also, and doubt it's loaded to NATO heat.

Hey Vontar, my pastor is also one of my shootin' buddies, along with a few other men at church. We're going skeet shooting this weekend, and regularly help each other out with ammo, etc. :-) In late October we're holding a church-wide skeet shooting event, with the full support of the gun club at which it will be held. I'm stoked because we'll also have a number of first-time shooters joining us.

It's pretty awesome!

It's nice to know some of them take very seriously the idea of pretecting their flock. :-) My pastor would also have help, if he needed it. ;-)

chatt sportsmans warehouse had many, many boxes of 500 the last time we went in (monday, maybe?), so many they filled the regular 223 shelf, a special display, and were scattered across the gun counter.   I did not look at the price, had a lot on my mind that day.   I dunno if they still have it.  Pretty sure it was brass cased.

It's good to hear that the shelves are being stocked again. I would think if the stock builds up and sits on the shelf for a while the price might come down. Wish we could say the same for .22LR but it may come around eventually also.

Thinking about it, Walmart should have openned at least one of those and put boxes of 20/30 out on the shelves to give the impression they had allot.
