BTW... The reason I called Dolomite was because of the technique I found while looking this stuff up. Torque the barrel nut to 30, and then break it loose and do it again. Go for your final torque after you bring it to 30 the third time. I did that, and it came it came out dead nuts at 30. I thought I may have found the grail. The next one took more.

That's the way I do mine too. I've always been lucky to have the holes line up pretty easy @ 30-40

I'll keep doing it. Last one didn't line up, but didn't take much to push it in.

Thank God for Harbor Freight torque wrenches LOL..

They usually put a coupon for $9.99 torque wrenches in the emails they send out so if i'm planning a trip I usually pick up one whether I have a use for it or not. Needless to say, I've given quite a few away to friends that say "oh, I never bother with torque wrenches". I've seen a plenty of dirt bike cams burnt smooth up because they were (or weren't) torqued as little as 1lb over spec. They don't put a spec on important parts of gun, cars or bikes just to say there is one.

Looks like I'm gonna have to invest in a torque wrench. I've put together a few lowers, but never an upper. That should change with the purchase of the TGO upper and lower.

You're free to borrow mine if I'm around when you get your upper.

Or you can just bring it to one of us.

I do appreciate the offer, fellas. I'm sure I'll need one for something else along the way.

Until buying this house last year, my adult life has been spent living in apartments and condos. They were responsible for fixing everything, and they didn't allow tenants to work on their vehicles on premises, so I never had much need for more than a few basic hand tools.

Since buying the house, I've built a work bench, bought a decent tool box, and have begun the process of accumulating the tools that every man should own. Sadly, my garage isn't as big as Harbor Freight. :D

Yeah I bough a cheap torque wrench when building mine. The nut tightened and lined up about 40lbs. It's the only upper I've built so I can assume I got lucky.
