That story quotes infowars which I can't really believe that teaparty.org would run with something like this.

“The majority of the Syrian people — and the Syrian opposition we work with — just want to live in peace, with dignity and freedom,”

Statement was put into a context that wasn't intended.  the word "infowars" on anything completely discredits it.

I see your point on the inforwars comment but I am a Tea party member and it came in a Tea party email to me on Tea Party Link page. I will send you entire email link in PM if you would like to read it.

Well, I though it appeared in context, down in the body of the article. Or, did I miss something else? Just because

it is from Infowars makes it false? Love you guys!

Ah grow up! Maybe Huffpo is better for sourcing. Killing the messenger won't make you feel better, at the end of

the day, will it? Some of you did this with Glen Beck. Turns out he was correct in his broadcasting, but the drama

killed him, anyway.

I think Alex Jones is to blame for how audiences interpret his information to be unreliable. Kinda like MSNBC. But even MSNBC gets facts correct sometimes, like the date and time, but I would still be looking at how they present the date and time with a great amount of skepticism and suspicion.

I guess what I'm saying is, the reader isn't to blame for why they find an information source suspect; it is the fault of the information source. I won't even bother reading articles on infowars linked from Drudge any more because most of the time I can debunk them in a matter of minutes and the ones I don't bother debunking are usually filled with emotionally charged words designed to elicit a response from the reader to otherwise innocuous information. I don't need a news source to tell me what my opinions are. I read Oh Shoot's posts for that.

As much as I agree with you, Dan, it sometimes has to be digested with all the other junk being disseminated to us, and

the messenger is only that. Stopping at the messenger can sometimes be a shortcoming. I get info from all kinds of places,

like you, and we both read it before we digest it. Shooting the messenger just kills another source to me. I don't care for

many things said from his page, but sometimes he hits, also.

That's all I meant.

BTW, I'm guilty of it when it is CNN, so, really, touche! :D

You have to believe me, I tried. A guy I work with used to be all about Alex Jones, so I'd hear about the wacky crap that didnt make it to TGO or the Drudge. It was so painful to constantly debunk this stuff that seemed to top the previous moonbattery. For a while I thought that maybe Alex Jones was doing conspiracy theorist satire, but then came to realize he's just another money grubber feeding off a willing market of distrust for the gov. Kinda the same way guys troll clubs for girls with low self esteem... to eff them. Was really hoping it was all satire.

I know what you mean. I just look and dump. Kinda like lather, rinse, repeat. :D You really have to do it with all the news

sources out there.

And I think you know I'm not defending him or any other, just the way I gather information. Occasionally, some strange

sources can yield relevant info, even if the messenger is nuts. :D

Well, in all reality it does sound like something that our potus would say since he as done many things it appears to help get his way in the Arab Spring to this point so I didn't find it that far fetched but if I was wrong I am sorry for making the post in the first place. I will be more careful in the future of the material I post about............ :ugh:

I wouldn't use that as a reason not to trust the news source because I believe that can be said of everyone in the news business and talk radio.  I don't care for Jones because most of what he discusses doesn't interest me, as I, like you, am not one who thinks everything is a conspiracy.  However, the majority of the stuff that he says or puts on his site isn't meant for people like you or me; it is fodder for his core audience.  I agree with Mark, every now and then he gets a hit on something that is plausible and has mainstream appeal.

Just to note, the only time I ever visit his site is when there is a link from Drudge.

I have so many news and blog sites bookmarked, and I don't visit most of them often, at all. His isn't one of them

bookmarked, but, like Mav, if it's linked and interesting to me. I go there.
